Questions regarding the
Log Periodic Antenna for Electronic Proving Ground, Fort Huachuca, AZ
Combined Questions
QuestionAnswer
1I would like to confirm number of units, as well as the term. I do see where the solicitation clearly reflects 1 EA Log Periodic Antenna & 1 EA Antenna Positioner. However, I thought that I had also seen a reference to something long term, as in 5 years. So I wasn’t sure if maybe this was for 1 EA initially, but potentially more based on results from first delivery. The requirement is to purchase one (1) Log Periodic Antenna and one (1) Antenna Positioner only.
2What is the Technology Readiness Level (TRL)?Don't know what this is!
3It appears this may be a first-time / new requirement. Is that the case, or is there an incumbent? This is a new requirement to purchase the equipment listed. Incumbent is AR ATR26M250 26-250 MHz 15,000 Watts with 1-5/8 EIA connector, with polarization change positioner. Ant Positioner is AP501B with extended base.
4Please clarify dimensions. The solicitation indicates “height adjustment will allow for minimum antenna height of 2.0 meters or less to at least 3.3 meters or more, as measured from the ground to the centerline of mounted antenna.”. Are we indicating that the minimum gap for the adjustment is 1.3 meters? In other words, the height from the ground would be no more than 2 meters at the lowest adjustment, but lower is acceptable. Then the height at the top is at least 3.3 meters from the ground before adjusting beyond that point to a greater height. Does that sound correct? Can you provide H X L X W?Height adjustable - Based on center line of mounted antenna.

Lowest height 2.0 meters or less.

Minimum maximum height 3.3 meters. Can be taller if stable.

Actual HXLXW is not critical as long as it meets all other requirments. This system will be used outside OATS.

5Dependent upon how much information you can provide, what is the mission? Or maybe just provide the actual application, if you don’t mind.Electronic Proving Ground (EPG) requires a new wide band, high gain, and high power bent element log periodic antenna for RF-EME testing outside. Must handle 15,000 watts
6What is the configuration based on the application (e.g. fixed, mobile, land based, shipboard, vehicle, rotational, etc.)?RF-EME testing. The positioner allows polarization change (90 degree rotation) without removing the antenna from its positioner as well as permitting the antenna to be tilted 30 degrees.
7Are there any additional environmental considerations, such as the following? a. shock b. vibration c. salt/fog d. sand e. water/immersion f. temperture g. debris/ obstacleselevation 5500 ft MSL or less. Outdoors, Relatively dry environments, high uv, move over flat gravel surface. The base should be sufficient to maintain a stable platform in outside conditions with antenna at max height. The primary structure of the positioner should be constructed of non-conducting materials such as Fiberglas, PVC, Delrin, and Nylatron, but durable under normal handling. The max antenna load capacity will be 100 lbs.
8Our standard tests are VSWR and Gain. Any additional test requirements? How do you demostrate that you meet the 3 dB beam width requirement.
9Based on destination, would the antenna ship to Fort Huachuca, AZ?Yes, the antenna would be shipped to Fort Huachuca, Arizona as the destination.
10Gaining access to the WAWF system is something easily accommodated by the government, based on the awardee, correct?Yes, gaining access to WAWF is easily accomodated.
11Funding status……. is funding currently available?Yes funds are currently available and ready for award.
12Is there a timeline identified for the award date?Yes there is a timeline for award, it will be one week atfer the solicitation closes and is technically acceptable in accordance with the
