1. SUMMARY -
1.1. Background - The Aerial Delivery and Field Services
Department (ADFSD)of the US Army Quartermaster School, the proponent for Sling Load Operations under the US Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), has granted waivers to Aviation mailto:safeadm@conus.army.mil https://asmprd.redstone.army.mil/ https://www.us.army.mil/ units to perform Sling Load Operations using locally fabricated
Training Blocks. This was done to allow units to conduct training without completing the DA Form 7382, Sling Load
Inspection Record. Using waivers, ADFSD and the US Army
Quartermaster School has been accepting the responsibility in the event of a dropped external load using a Training Block.
The waiver process will end 30 November 2011 and Aviation units will be required to comply with the requirements of FM 4-20.197, Multi-Service Helicopter Sling Load: Basic Operations and
Equipment, when conducting Sling Load training with fabricated
Training Blocks.

7.5. Referring to Addendums One and Two, because it is not
possible to train Sling Load Inspectors in the various engineering tasks required to certify the various locally fabricated loads, the Aerial Delivery Engineering Support Team, U.S. Army RDECOM - Natick Soldier RDEC has developed a
"blueprint" to assist units in standardizing local fabrication.
While this design is not currently required, it is highly recommended that the design be used for the manufacture of new
