1. Who is responsible for running electrical cabling to required areas (racks, walls behind tv mounts, in floor, etc.)? ALL TV outlets to the wall plate are in the existing Building SCS system. AV Contractor must mount TV’s to sheet rock walls (blocking was installed by the General contractor) the AV contractor must either lag bolt the mounts into the existing blocking or provide sufficient hollow wall anchors.
Provide and install the TV’s (A1) Mount TV (A2) and provide patch cables (A3 and A4).
Note: Building SCS cabling does not completely cover the Crestron system or the Closed circuit camera system. These cables must be ran by the AV contractor as needed per AV contractor drawings. Surface mount conduit and pathways will not be approved. Any new infrastructure (conduit, boxes, etc.) must to flush mount, with cover plates matching surrounding plates.
2. Is there a structured cabling system in place? (YES) Cable trays in the ceiling, (YES) conduit in walls or floor, etc.(Yes for the SCS in the building contract.) If so, are pull strings available for use? (no) the existing building SCS is not for the AV system except the TV outlets.
3. Is a security clearance required (personnel and/or facility)? No, visitor passes will be issued for all required personnel.
4. Will the government provide call outs tables information for the drawing to ID cables, equipment cabling pathways? The SCS system will be labeled and installed by the building contractor. The AV specific cabling is to be labeled as provided for in the contractor’s drawings. See installer drawings paragraph page 1 of AV system description document. Provided pathways are indicated on sheets AV2.1, AV2.2 and AV2.3.
5. Will the government provide information on wall and ceiling materials to determine mounting requirements for monitors and projectors screens and cameras. All Monitors mount to sheetrock walls with existing blocking. Projectors and Projection screens both mount in lay-in ceiling areas contractor will have to provide blocking or other support structure to properly attach equipment to building structure. (appx 3’ interstitial space)
6. Will an area be provided to the contractor to store equipment, material or tools on site. Yes an area can be provided for this purpose. However, Contractor is responsible for the safe/secure storage of their own materials once they are delivered to the site.
7. How many classrooms are there? Six plus the two 3-way combined classrooms. (12 total)
8. Drawing seems to indicate a desire to run video from the teacher’s station to the TVs over Shielded CAT6 cable. I don’t see any mention of a device that will change HDMI to CAT6 in the drawing or equipment list. What is the intention here? In the small classrooms there is both HDMI Cable and shielded CAT 6. The intention is to use the HDMI cable native thru the low loss switcher. Per the mfgr’s documentation this switcher works up to 50’ over HDMI. The shielded CAT 6 is an installed back-up incase signal degradation prevents use of the HDMI cable.
9. Will there be any sources besides a VGA/audio Input plate, HDMI input plate, and “Future” AM100?
COAX over the campus CCTV system. (Ran in the existing building SCS to the TV outlet) patch cable by AV contractor item B4.
Combined Classroom:
10. Looks like there are two of these, one on the first and one on the second floor. Is that correct? Yes
11. Are both rooms meant to share a central matrix switcher, or do the operate as independent systems? Independent switchers (item J2) One controller (item J1) . (Rack indicated in drawing AV-05 is for first floor AV-06 is for second floor.) four touch screens (two per floor item O9)
12. System description on page 1 mentions “The DMPS” in the room. There are no DMPS units shown on drawing AV-02. There are no DMPS units called-out in the equipment specifications. Item J2 on drawing AV-02 indicates the Crestron Digital Media Presentation Switcher. ( Item J2 in the equipment descriptions.) Note in the equipment descriptions this was changed to a 16X16 for each floor.
-Is there/Are there EXISTING DMPS units already on site? - NO
-Which model? -None
-How many? - 0
-If we are to provide new DMPS units do we know which model is required, where will it be located, and how many are needed? Item J2. One per floor on the AV equipment racks per drawings AV-05 and AV-
06. Again these units in the diagrams show 8x8 (but the equipment descriptions for item J2 correctly indicate 16x16.
13. Drawings note that Speakers are “in building contract”. Do we know the make & model speakers that will be used? SAROS ICT8 is specified.
14. Equipment specifications show a DM-MD16x16 matrix switcher. Drawing AV-02 shows a DM- MD8x8. Do we know which one is required? The 16X16 as stated above.
15. Drawing AV-02 mentions that the “AV Station” is detailed on drawing AV-03. Are these stations really supposed to match those in the TYPICAL CLASSROOM? YES the furniture needs to be the same.
The detailed AV equipment is different.
