1. PURPOSE. The purpose of this project is to provide Air Force (AF) Civil Engineer Equipment Operators the knowledge necessary to ensure safe and proper operating procedures when operating tractor trailer combinations.
Heavy equipment operators Air Force wide utilize tractor trailer combinations to perform many tasks, including transportation of equipment and tool assets to locations outside the installation perimeter. A driving force behind this project is the Military Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Act, signed into effect in October of 2012. This law provides individual U.S. States the option of accepting military training towards the award of a CDL, and eliminates the requirement to perform an over the road test as part of the CDL award process.
