Text version

RFI #1 Date 12 Sep 2017

1. In the statement of work, page 24, 2.5.4.3 references two-way vents to be installed. The roofing manufacturer does not require vents in complete tear off installations. Will they still be required? If the manufacturer does not require vents in this roofing system its fine; however for a sealed roof membrane at edges ventilation is required to prevent condensation and moisture problems.

2. Page 24, 3.2.0 is it the intent to replace the roof drains and the associated PVC cast iron drain piping? If so, should piping be PVC or cast iron? The roof drain must be of a similar product type, its termination must transition into the existing PVC drain discharge.

3. Page 24, 3.4.0 references .032 mill aluminum. Should the .032 aluminum math the existing color of the metal siding? The color for all aluminum should match the existing.

4. There is a piece of equipment laying on the roof. It appears that it may be some type of lifting device. Is this to be removed from the roof? If so, will the Government take ownership or should it be disposed of? The equipment will be removed by the government.

5. Are the two (2) 10’ sections of gutter on the west side of the building to be replaced or reused? All guttering to be new.

6. With the existing drainage design, the main roof area drains to the exterior edges causing water to drain off the edge. Will perimeter gutters be required? This would require approximately 400 LF of gutter to be incorporated into the bid. The slope edges of the roof must receive guttering.
