AMENDMENT 0001
The purpose of this amendment is to post answers to questions submitted:
1. Incorporate the following responses into the solicitation:
QUESTION #1: Would a solution utilizing 2 EA 20ft ISO containers to make up the 16’ x 16’ x 8’ space requirement be acceptable to the Government?
ANSWER #1: No, the Government requires the ease of seeing up this classroom without the use of heavy equipment and operators to set it in place. In addition, the Government requires the ease of transporting this item across rough terrain.
QUESTION #2: Should the trailer system be integrated in the building, or can the building components be placed on a trailer at the time of movement?
ANSWER#2: Yes, provided that the building components can be placed on the trailer by 3 or less people and without the use of heavy equipment. There is no requirement of the trailer to be a part of the building configuration.
QUESTION #3: Would solar power to supplement the diesel generator be considered?
ANSWER #3: Yes, as a supplement, solar power will be considered. However, with the limited amount of light in the winter and during cloudy conditions, the Government requires a reliable power source (diesel generator) to support the electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and COMM requirements.
QUESTION #4: Are there requirements for the number of entry/exit points and windows?
ANWSER #4: Yes, the wall must be movable as to allow items to be loaded into it, but can be closed in a solid structure that has sufficient insulation to withstand winter weather conditions. The doors are primarily for personnel entry only and the unit must have at least one. The Government requests a minimum of 2 EA windows, one on each side of the classroom that can serve as an egress window in the event of an emergency.
QUESTION #5: Does the Shelter require a floor? If so, can the trailer be incorporated into the design and be a part of the floor?
ANSWER #5: Yes, the modular classroom requires a flooring system suitable to withstand ground moisture conditions and can easily be cleaned and maintained. The trailer may be incorporated into the flooring system provided that it does not interfere with the overall 16’ x 16’ dimensions, and can be folded up in suitable dimensions for towing.
QUESTION #6: Does the shelter need to be insulated?
ANSWER #6: Yes, it is intended for year-round use, and must be cost efficient to run both heating and cooling systems.
QUESTION #7: Are the trailer dimensions correct (8’H x 4’W x 20’L)?
ANSWER #7: Yes, the dimensions are correct. The towable configuration of the trailer must meet these dimensions at a minimum.
QUESTION #8: How many watt generator is required?
ANSWER #8: A 6.5 KW generator is recommended to run the 100 AMP electrical panel. Other sized generator will be considered if they meet the performance standards of the structure and supply sufficient power to meet the anticipated electrical load of the unit.
QUESTION #9: Are there any paint/color requirements?
ANSWER #9: There are no specific requirements for paint, although skin should be durable to meet the 30-year life cycle requirement. It is also desired, that there be little maintenance involved with keeping up the appearance of the building. Colors should be neutral tans, off whites, OD green, or camouflage.
2. All other terms and conditions shall remain the same.
