SPECIFICATIONS

1.1 The successful bidder shall supply one (1) vertical turbine pump and associated motor having the following salient characteristics:

1.1.1 The vertical turbine pump shall be capable of delivering 700 GPM of water at 100’ of total dynamic head.

1.1.2 The vertical turbine pump shall have a speed of 1770 RPM.

1.1.3 The vertical turbine pump shall have a 25 HP, 1765RPM, 60 cycle, 3 phase, 480VAC motor with standard NEMA dimensional bolting sizes and arrangements for mounting to the pump.

1.1.4 The vertical turbine pump motor shall have a nonreversible ratchet device to prevent reverse rotation of the pump and impeller shaft.

1.1.5 The vertical turbine pump shall have an adjustment nut in the motor or pump head to adjust impeller clearance.

1.1.6 The vertical turbine pump shall have a Smith-Blair Type 913 flanged coupling to fit the existing 8” schedule 80 steel discharge piping.

1.1.7 The vertical turbine pump shall have a conical strainer with an effective free area at least one and a half times the area of the respective suction manifold.

1.1.8 The vertical turbine pump column, bowls, and strainer shall fit within the existing 12.75” outer diameter schedule 20 pipe sleeve.

1.1.9 All exposed ferrous surfaces of the vertical turbine pump and motor shall be be painted per the manufacturer’s recommendation.

1.1.10 The vertical turbine pump shall have a head of low, rigid construction, arranged for bolting to the existing concrete foundation.

1.1.11 The vertical turbine pump shall have a suitable adjustable packing gland where the shaft enters the head.

1.1.12 The vertical turbine pump shall have a total length (discharge pipe centerline to bottom of strainer) of 114.67’ such that bottom of the strainer is 6” above the sump floor.

1.1.13 The vertical turbine pump shall have a solenoid oiler for lubrication of pump shaft bearings.

1.1.14 The vertical turbine pump discharge column shall conform to ASTM 139 or approved equal and couplings shall be provided for each 10’ length of pipe.

1.1.15 The vertical pump discharge elbow shall be fabricated from steel plate or pipe.

1.1.16 The vertical turbine pump shaft shall be made of high-grade steel furnished in sections of 10’ with suitable couplings to join the sections.

1.1.17 The vertical turbine pump shaft tube shall conform to Fed. Spec. WW-P-406, Class 1, pipe, and shall be fabricated in sections of no more than 10’ with both ends of each pipe or tube faced, bored, or threaded in one setting of the machine.

1.1.18 The vertical turbine pump shaft bearings shall be of bronze and shall be threaded on the outside and bored, reamed, and oil grooved on the inside.

1.1.19 The vertical turbine pump bowl assembly shall be made of close grained cast iron or semisteel with the interior surfaces smooth.

1.1.20 The vertical turbine pump shall have suitable vanes between the impellers to reduce turbulence.

1.1.21 The vertical turbine pump shall have guide bearings in each stage to ensure proper alignment of the impellers.

1.1.22 The vertical turbine pump impellers shall be made of bronze cast in a single piece and shall be designed to handle small amounts of silt, sand, or debris that may pass through the strainer.

1.2 The successful bidder shall supply two (2) vertical turbine pumps and associated motors having the following salient characteristics:

1.2.1 The vertical turbine pumps shall be capable of delivering 1500 GPM of water at 110’ of total dynamic head.

1.2.2 The vertical turbine pumps shall have a speed of 1770 RPM.

1.2.3 The vertical turbine pumps shall have 50 HP, 1800RPM, 60 cycle, 3 phase, 440VAC motors with standard NEMA dimensional bolting sizes and arrangements for mounting to the pumps.

1.2.4 The vertical turbine pump motors shall have a nonreversible ratchet device to prevent reverse rotation of the pump and impeller shaft.

1.2.5 The vertical turbine pumps shall have an adjustment nut in the motor or pump head to adjust impeller clearance.

1.2.6 The vertical turbine pumps shall have a Smith-Blair Type 913 flanged coupling to fit the existing 8” schedule 80 steel discharge piping.

1.2.7 The vertical turbine pumps shall have a conical strainer with an effective free area at least one and a half times the area of the respective suction manifold.

1.2.8 The vertical turbine pump columns, bowls, and strainer shall fit within the existing 12.75” outer diameter schedule 20 pipe sleeves.

1.2.9 All exposed ferrous surfaces of the vertical turbine pumps and motors shall be painted per the manufacturer’s recommendation.

1.2.10 The vertical turbine pumps shall have a head of low, rigid construction, arranged for bolting to the existing concrete foundation.

1.2.11 The vertical turbine pumps shall have a suitable adjustable packing gland where the shaft enters the head.
