TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

Revisions in Red Text

1. SCOPE

The successful offeror is responsible for supplying six (6) duplex raw water strainers conforming to the specifications detailed in the following text. The new duplex strainers shall be a direct replacement for the existing strainers, which are located in a concrete pit downstream of the main unit generators on concrete pedestals. The existing equipment is Elliott, size 10-inch, type AL, model 334 (Units 1-3) and Zurn, size 10-inch, type 570 FBS (Units 4-6). The successful offeror shall provide new duplex strainers capable of being mounted in the current location of the existing strainers without modification to the concrete structure and with minimal modifications to the piping.

2. RAW COOLING WATER DUPLEX STRAINERS

2.1. STRAINER HOUSING DESCRIPTION:

The duplex raw water strainers shall be Tate Andale Type AL, or equal, with the following salient characteristics:

i. Type: Duplex, with minimal moving parts, right hand assembly

ii. Construction: In accordance with (IAW) ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) sections II, V, VIII, IX

iii. Material: Cast iron with painted exterior and interior corrosion protection

iv. Minimum Operational Pressure Rating: 100 PSIG

v. Flow Capacity Rating: No less than 1500 GPM

vi. Operating Temperature Range: -10 degrees C (14 degrees F) to 90 degrees C (194 degrees F)

vii. Type of Connection: 10 inch, ANSI Class 150 Flange (pre-drilled flanges)

viii. Clogging Indicator: Differential pressure gauge with colored clogging indicator

ix. Critical Dimensions:

• Nominal Flange-to-Flange not to exceed (NTE): 39-3/8 inches

• Base to Flange Centerline (Inlet and Outlet): No less than 10 inches and no greater than 18-3/8 inches

x. Overall Assembled Dimensions NTE:

• Height: 33-7/8 inches

• Width (Flange-to-Flange): 39-3/8 inches

• Depth: 45-1/8 inches

xi. Crossover Valve Assembly:

• Type: Sliding gate valve with hand wheel and LH/RH hand wheel interlocking ability, chain drive

• Material/Construction: Cast iron with ring type valve seal

• Valve Seal: Natural rubber, EPDM rubber, or approved equivalent

• Features: Valve position indicator

xii. Additional Equipment:

• Vent and drain valve

• Lifting davit(s)

• Pressure equalizing line and no less than three (3) ball valves

xiii. Mounting:

• To be floor mounted on concrete or steel pads via embedded threaded anchors

2.2. STRAINER FILTER ELEMENT DESCRIPTION:

The strainer filter elements shall be the accompanying filter elements of the Tate Andale Type AL strainer, or equal, with the following salient characteristics:

i. Type: Removable filter basket with handle

ii. Construction: Wedgewire or approved equivalent; Basket to withstand no less than 56

PSIG

iii. Material: Stainless steel

iv. Filtration Rating: 3175 micron

v. Basket Open Filtration Area: No less than 392.7 in2 (5 times the cross sectional area of intake)

vi. Additional Features:

a. Magnetic Assembly

3. SUBMITTALS

Descriptive Materials (brochures, illustrations, drawings, data sheets, etc) must be submitted which will allow the Contracting Officer to determine, without discussion with the offerer, whether the products being offered meets all of the required specifications. Submittals shall include copies of manufactures catalog cut sheet, specification sheets, material certifications, and warranty.

4. OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE MANUALS

Upon delivery of the strainers, submit three (3) complete paper copies and one (1) complete electronic copy of the Operation and Maintenance Manual. Include instructions on the installation, operation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, a list of recommended spare parts, and warranty of the strainers. Also include the name, phone and fax numbers, and email address of the contractor, manufacturer, and a distributor where spare parts and filters can be purchased.

The following identification shall be inscribed on the covers:

5. SHIPMENT AND DELIVERY

All strainers shall be delivered FOB to Ice Harbor Lock and Dam within 14 weeks of contract award. The Contractor is responsible for packing and shipping the strainers in a manner that will ensure undamaged and complete arrival to the Project. No shipments are allowed other than during normal business hours of Monday – Thursday 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., excluding federal holidays.
