About this file
This document contains questions and answers regarding Solicitation Number W91247-24-Q-0017 from the Department of the Army Materiel Command Mission and Installation Contracting Command. The solicitation is for a remote-controlled kit to be retrofitted into a Military M113 Bull for use by the 20th EN BDE. While the current solicitation only requests a remote-controlled system, the Engineering Battalion's intent is to procure autonomous equipment instead. As such, the statement of work will be revised and the solicitation amended to require a fully autonomous kit rather than just remote control capabilities.

Text version
Queson Answer A remote control system is basic, does not completely remove the soldier (as they still need to be in line of sight and therefore potentially still under threat of direct and/or indirect fire). Autonomy is a key capability to do so. However, the SOW in this solicitation asks only for remote control.
The Engineering Batalion’s intent is to have autonomous equipment for this event. The SOW will be revised and solicitaon amended.
