Reconfigure Building 63 W91242-17-B-0995

145th Airlift Wing Charlotte, NC

Questions & Answers #2 – 20 July 2017

14. Regarding the demountable wall system…the type and style are still a bit un-clear. The photo with the Q&A shows a solid flush wood door. The written description is calling for a fully glazed door with frosted glass. Please clarify the requirement. If a glazed door, will it be wood or aluminum? Will there be a requirement for any electrical within the wall system?

Photo is for reference of existing conditions only. Provide full lite frosted glass doors set in aluminum frames in offices with demountable partitions. No electrical within the wall.

15. Drawing A1 (to scale) provided with the amendment does not show the mezzanine. We need to be able to confirm the dimensions and the column spacing. Using the original drawing (calculated scale) it appears the columns are approximately 8ft center to center. If this is the case, the 11’6” wide gate (Q&A #11) will not be possible.

11’-6” are field measurements.

16. HVAC modifications at Management Systems 116 – It was mentioned during the site visit that the existing system should be able to provide the additional capacity needed to adequately cool and heat the space. Without doing any calculations, compared to the adjacent space along the east wall, it appears that the supply along the exterior wall should be approximately double what is existing, adding two supply diffusers. It does not appear that the existing rectangular supply duct will support additional volume. What should be proposed if a simple addition of supply ducts will not work with the existing system?

Means and methods by GC. There will be no net airflow change in the supply line. We are taking the air (CFM) from 1 diffuser and splitting it between 3 diffusers; there is no net change and therefore no need to change the duct size.

17. Reference attachment “contracting office HVAC2.” It appears you are only expecting an evaluation of the system and not expecting any modifications or corrective measures. Is that a correct understanding? I don’t see any information on the M drawings to indicate the designed air flow/air volumes. It may be possible that the system is functioning as designed but not providing the desired results.

No modifications or corrective measures required, only an evaluation of airflows, supply temperatures, controls, etc. to ensure that the system is functioning as designed. Airflows are designated for each supply diffuser in the lower half of the circle labeling each diffuser (the top half of the circle has “A”, “B”, “C”, “D”, etc to identify diffuser type).
