Text version
1. Is there any asbestos or lead paint that will be disturbed by doing the work, removing original windows? No asbestos or lead paint is associated with window replacement.
2. Are parts of the original window frames embedded in concrete or grouted in, and if so, does govt. want the embedded parts to be removed or just cut flush and new windows to cover that? Window frames are not embedded in the concrete, the new windows do not need to be embedded, if anything is found to be embedded it can be cut flush and the new windows can be installed over.
3. Besides the specs for extruded aluminum, double paned argon, some swinging inward, etc. and does the USACE want the windows to mimic the original ones with the multiple lites, or do they need to be more like the ones replaced on first floor? We would like the new windows to be as similar as possible to those replaced on the first floor.
4. Is there a color desired for the extruded alum frames? Color/finish preference would be silver or something similar.
5. Are there times when the lower road at bottom of intake structure gets flooded and is underwater? If so, would this likely happen during work? Flooding cannot be predicted so yes there is a possibility that the lower access road could become flooded. It is unlikely to occur after June through September. If flooding should occur to a level that would prevent contract performance, a modification would be processed to extend the contract.
6. What are the windows thicknesses (2.5", 3", 3.5")? As for window thickness the opening is just over 5” wide so anything between 2.5" and 4.5” would fit.
