UTAH ARMY NATIONAL GUARD
97TH AVIATION TROOP COMMAND
7602 SOUTH AIRPORT ROAD
WEST JORDAN, UT 84084
NGUT-AVZ 30 July 2019
MEMORANDUM TO USP&FO for Utah, 12953 S. Minuteman Drive, Draper, Utah 84020
SUBJECT: Aircrew Combat Ensemble
1. Aircrew Combat Ensemble (ACE), Reference TM 1-1680-377-13&P-1 Chapter 12, and AR 95-1 Para 8-11.
2. The ACE is an integrated one-piece system that will replace the current non-integrated, two-piece system. The ACE will allow pilots to have full range of motion with the flight controls without compromising the integrity of the aircraft. Additionally, aircrews will often have to egress with only the gear they are wearing. The ACE will provide aircrews with the equipment necessary to successfully and immediately evade the enemy.
3. The ergonomic and light-weight design of the ACE reduces the amount of strain put on a pilot’s body. On a yearly basis, Army aviators will fly roughly 140-200 hours during stateside training missions and roughly 500-800 hours during combat operations. The CIACS6/2 will increase the combat readiness and effectiveness of all aviators.
4. POC for the above is CW4 Stewart Smith (801) 816-3485 or stewart.a.smith.mil@mail.mil.
