Deviations To

MIL-DTL-1563C (DTD 8 October 1997)

Buttons, Insignia and Findings (USMA)

1. Detail 5A, Insignia, USMA, Button, Ball 30 Ligne.

A) Change Note 4: From: Stems shall be swedged, hard or soft soldered to the back shell and symmetrically located as shown.

To: “Stems shall be swedged, epoxied or hard or soft soldered and symmetrically located as shown. Epoxy will be of a composition to sustain adhesion through 50 industrial dry cleanings.”

2. Detail 6A, Insignia, USMA, Button, 25 Ligne.

A) Change Note 4: From: Stems shall be swedged, hard or soft soldered to the back shell and symmetrically located as shown.

To: “Stems shall be swedged, epoxied or hard or soft soldered and symmetrically located as shown. Epoxy will be of a composition

3. Detail 7A, Insignia, USMA Button, 36 Ligne.

A) Change Note 2: From: The attaching device shall be stem and backshell type and shall conform to the dimensions shown above.

To: “The attaching device shall be stem and concave backshell type and shall conform to the dimensions shown above.”

B) Change Note 4: From: Stems shall be swedged, hard or soft soldered to the back shell and symmetrically located as shown.

To: “Stems shall be swedged, epoxied or hard or soft soldered and symmetrically located as shown. Epoxy will be of a composition

C) Change Note 5: Add: “7/32 inch or 0.56 cm.”

4. Detail 10A, Insignia, USMA Button, 30 Ligne.

A) Change Note 3: From: Stems shall be swedged, hard or soft soldered to the back shell and symmetrically located as shown.

To: “Stems shall be swedged, epoxied or hard or soft soldered and symmetrically located as shown. Epoxy will be of a composition to sustain adhesion through 50 industrial dry cleanings.”

B) Add Dash Numbers: Add: -1, ½” stem, Gold polished finish

Add: -2, ¼” stem, Nickel polished finish.

5. Detail 20A, Insignia, USMA, Ball, 30 Ligne with Tack Back.

A) Change Note 3: From: The tack back shall be swedged, hard or soft soldered to the back shell and symmetrically located as shown.

To: “The tack back shall be swedged, epoxied or hard or soft soldered and symmetrically located as shown. Epoxy will be of a composition to sustain adhesion through 50 industrial dry cleanings.”
