Chiller Rentals – RFI#1
1. For BLDG 745 regarding the splice inside the manhole, what size wire is being tapped and what size wire is the government requiring to be used for all 13,800v wiring?
Answer - Current wire size I will have to get. Follow all applicable codes for what size wire to install and a submittal will be required.
2. Please confirm that a temporary disconnect is to provided and that all 13,800v taps in the man hole, at disconnect and transformer are going to be performed by the government?
Answer - Contractor responsible for Temporary disconnect and Taps will be done by others in the manhole and on High voltage side of transformer. Disconnect connection is responsibility of contractor.
3. We generally use a concrete pad underneath the transformer in this type of setup, please confirm is this is acceptable instead of a fiberglass pad?
Answer - Prefer a fiberglass pad as this is only temporary.

BLDG 745
1. To make certain 13-8 cable will be run by contractors electrician, but taps and splices and connection to transformers will be made by in-house utility (electrician)?
Answer- Correct the taps and HV side connection in transformer will be done by others. Contractor to run cable only.
2. Does your in-house utility (electrician) require a specific specification of cable?
Answer- A submittal will be needed by contractor on cable type. Follow all applicable electric code specs.
3. Are we required to provide any type of terminations on the HV side?
Answer- No
4. Since we did not have access to manhole, do you have an accurate distance from the top of temp conduits to the splice point in the manhole cover?
Answer- 225’
5. Who is responsible for high potential testing of the HV cable?
Answer- HVAC Contractor
6. Will tie-in of the HV side be accomplished after normal business hours or on the weekend? Do we need to be present to witness since we are providing the transformer?
Answer- This will most likely happen after hours or in the early morning hours will depending on cadet schedule and also the in-house electrical contractor.
7. For clarification purposes, no protection is required on the HV side, but a disconnect is required on the 480V side which will sit between transformer and chiller?
Answer- Yes
8. Are fuses required or can the disconnect on the 480V side be accomplished in the form of a circuit breaker?
Answer- Please follow applicable codes. I would like to see the same set up as the 735 chiller only temporary.
9. Can an alternate form of pad be used in place of a fiberglass pad or if space allows can the transformer sit on the same trailer as the chiller?
Answer- Transformer to sit on ground. If something else is suggested it will need to be submitted and approved if not a fiberglass pad.
BLDG 753
1. Will Vic pipe fittings and disconnect be in place outside (similar to BLDG 735) prior to load in of the air cooled chiller outside BLDG 753?
Answer- Yes
2. What is the size of the disconnect that will be installed for the temporary chiller outside BLDG 753?
Answer- Not installed as of yet.
3. If no to question 1, what is the distance from where the chiller will be parked to the electrical/ mechanical room tie-in point.
Answer- 225’
