QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
W911N2-16-T-0037 Questions
Q1. What is the length / width and height of the roll off? (The hopper or container that will be located under the dust collector for collection of dust). Normally we use 55 gallon drums but the spec. asked for the collector to be elevated to accept 6' high x 8' wide - how deep is it?
A1. The depth is the same as the width, 8’ deep.
Q2. What is the orientation of the roll off to the dust collector inlet/outlet? If we place the dust collector parallel or perpendicular to the building - will they be able to access the container?
A2. Parallel or perpendicular will work either way, but I think perpendicular would be best.
Q3. Measure the 6 ft. height from the rotary valve or the existing legs?
A3. In addition to the existing legs.
Q4. Height to be measured from the rotary valve discharge point?
A4. Correct, height of 6’ is to be measured from the rotary valve. .
Q5. 4.2 Individual component sizes and weights” Please provide a general arrangement drawing with sizes and weights of the components.
A5. Not available.
Q6. Will a dig permit be required for the 4 x 4 x 4 foundation?
A6. Not likely. Once whichever contractor is awarded the contract, they ought to provide a schematic of their planned installation in Bldg. 37 and whether or not digging will be required. It likely will not because the blast cabinet is just screwed into the floor, currently, in Bldg. 1.
Q7. Air is being returned via the HEPA filter to the inside of the building?
A7. Yes.
Q8. Is there a dbA requirement for sound attenuation for either the inside or the outside of this system?
A8. No.
Q9. Will NRTL certification shall be required for this system?
A9. No.
Q10. Are electrical schematics of the Table Blast Control Panel and the Dust Collector control panel available?
A10. Yes.
Q11. What is the weight of that blast tank?
A11. I don’t know. I could not find weights for the blast table or the dust collector.
Q12. Regarding the three fire suppression devices located on that system. Would you happen to know who the supplier / provider of those units may be?
A12. SSI Electric.
W911N2-16-T-0037
Q13. We would like to know if the Goff table machine and other equipment to be relocated is operational?
A13. Yes, it has routine PM-checks performed on it as well even though it has not been getting used much.
Q14. We would like to run all the equipment - to insure everything is operational and record the operating parameters - AMPs of all the motors/static pressures- etc.
A14. This sounds fine. I'm assuming that the contractor is asking about running the equipment prior to it being dissembled moved, in Bldg. 1. This is a good idea. Then the pre-move recordings can be compared to when we run the machine post-move, in Bldg. 37, after it is reassembled. Then we can see whether it's still operating at its full performance level.
Q15. Suggested adders:
a. Provide and install regulator / filter / drain for compressed air to dust collector manifold.
b. Provide and install Magnahelic gages for Primary filters for the dust collector and HEPA filters.
c. Access safety ladder and platform for filter / solenoid / diaphragm maint for the dust collector.
d. Wire brush / prime with 2 part epoxy and top coat with 2 part urethane paint – all carbon steel bolts / flanges and Exposed steel on the exterior dust collector.
e. Structure for dust collector to accommodate roll off container to be blasted, primed with 2 part epoxy, top coat with 2 part Urethane to match color of existing FARR collector.
A15. We’ve confirmed that we want the blast cabinet located all the way in the corner in Bldg. 37; not against the windows but in the corner. The front of the blast cabinet should face the hall so it can be loaded by a forklift. The blast cabinet should not affect the 2-ton crane located in the adjacent workspace.
Whichever contractor is awarded this contract, they should provide a schematic/plans for their installation of the blast cabinet, dust collector, etc. into Bldg. 37. Once PED in DOPS is provided with that schematic, we can ensure that utilities are installed thru DPW and that IRG is notified about holes in the wall.
