About this file

This document is an amendment to a solicitation for a large capacity turntable washer. The amendment extends the response deadline from July 31, 2020 to August 3, 2020 at 10:00 AM. It modifies the statement of work including requirements for turntable size and doors. Acceptable door styles are now either a single hinged door or a roll-in door. The amendment answers four questions from industry relating to programmable logic controller (PLC) and human-machine interface (HMI) specifications, exhaust fan material, and availability of overhead hoisting. The original solicitation was for a aqueous-based turntable spray washer to be provided to Anniston Army Depot for cleaning transmissions.

SUMMARY OF CHANGES

SECTION SF 1449 - CONTINUATION SHEET

SOLICITATION/CONTRACT FORM

The required response date/time has changed from 31-Jul-2020 10:00 AM to 03-Aug-2020 10:00 AM.

(End of Summary of Changes)

The following items are applicable to this modification:

AMENDMENT NOTES

1. The purpose of this amendment is to extend the solicitation closing date, make changes to the Statement of Work, and answer industry questions.

2. The solicitation closing date is hereby extended to 3 Aug 2020 at 10 AM CST.

3. The Requirements for Large Turntable Washer in section 2.1 and General Requirements &

Salient Features in section 2.2 have been modified.

4. The revised Statement of Work is attached to this amendment.

5. Industry questions are as follows:

Question 1: Side by side swing‐out v‐notched doors with constructed of stainless steel. Dual doors opening from center to the left and to the right with overhead access. Better Engineering offers two door styles here. A single hinged door and a “roll‐in” door that rolls into the back of the cabinet. Please let me know which would be considered an “or equal” or which you would prefer.

Answer 1: Either door style is acceptable. The ‘roll in’ door would be a preferred for space utilization. The washer & door shall stay within the space envelope referenced in 2.2.a.

Question 2: Siemens Brand Logo version 8 PLC with a Siemens Logo Human‐Machine Interface (HMI) (or equivalent). The PLC shall monitor the diverting flapper valves to insure the correct ones are open and closed in order to direct solution back to the appropriate wash and rinse tank. The PLC shall also control the cycle times and pauses between stages (wash, rinse, and shop air blow off), to let wash drip and return to wash tank before switching to rinse stage of cycle. The HMI shall provide feedback to the operator of which part of the cleaning cycle the machine is in and how much time remains for the cycle. The cycle times shall be changeable on the HMI screen and have the capability to be password protected. The HMI shall display any and all fault conditions. Our PLC and HMI is Allen Bradley, but has all of these capabilities.

Please confirm this will be considered an “equal”.

Answer 2: Yes

Question 3: 2.2.9 STEAM EXHAUST SYSTEM: Washer shall be equipped with an exhaust system to produce a minimum of 1000 (cubic feet per minute (CFM) to remove steam exhaust system from the washer process chamber. The system shall utilize a powder coated, mild steel tube axial type, belt driven exhaust fan, powered by a half horsepower, 1,725 revolutions per minute (RPM), three phase, totally enclosed, fan‐cooled (TEFC) electric motor. An exhaust box shall be

provided to the machine to be set up for a 12” tube axial fan connection. We use an aluminum fan housing so it doesn’t rust over time as a mild steel housing would. Is this ok?

Answer 3: Yes

Question 4: Is there an overhead hoist system inside of the shop where this cleaner will be going to lift all of the transmissions up and into the cleaner?

Answer 4: Yes

6. All other terms and conditions remain unchanged.
