Statement of Work/Description for

Procurement of a Portable Coordinate Measuring Machine

A. Scope/Description:

This specification establishes the requirements of a Portable Coordinate Measuring

Machine. The systems being considered would provide compatibility with existing FARO laser tracker measurement systems currently in use at Anniston Army Depot (ANAD).

Given the large size, intricate geometry and close tolerances that artillery pieces like howitzers possess, a tracker capable of performing large volume measurements and an accompanying arm to simultaneously provide measurements of highly intricate geometries will complement current production capabilities.

A tracker is required to measure items otherwise too large to fit on a coordinate measuring machine (CMM). The term tracker is a common industry name for a laser interferometer based measuring system. A six degree of freedom arm is required as part of the system to coordinate the large volume measurements with close in breech/trunnion measurements unique to the M777 howitzer. Along with the main components described, additional equipment, software, a laptop will be provided, along with training for two (2) government employees. Salient features of the primary features required are listed below.

B. Salient Features:

1. The item shall include: tracker instrument head, standard target tooling kit to include the arm, base plate, standard probe kit (3mm and 6mm probes), rechargeable battery, applicable cables, cover, and heavy duty base.

2. The system must be water and dust resistant.

3. The system must take temperature readings and allow for use in a standard shop environments.

4. The arm shall be a 12 ft. (3.7m), 7 Axis arm.

5. The item shall have a built‐in touch screen with basic metrology applications.

6. One (1) notebook shall be included that is equipped with a 64‐bit OS and dual storage drives for use with other laser based measuring systems currently utilized by ANAD.

7. One (1) magnetic base shall be included for the arm.

8. One (1) folding tri‐pod shall be included for the arm.

9. One (1) rolling stand shall be included for the tracker

10. One (1) operator’s manual shall be included.

C. Warranty:

A one (1) year standard warranty that applies to all parts associated with the unit. The

Contractor agrees that the supplies or services furnished under this contract shall be covered by the most favorable commercial warranties the Contractor gives to any customer for such supplies or services and that the rights and remedies herein are in addition to and do not limit any rights afforded to the Government by any other clause of this contract.
