Response to Vendor Question
Question: Does this method require that the instrument perform reflection measurements in the IR (1100-2500nm) region on solid samples (skin) via fiber optic probes?
Answer: In the preferred embodiment, yes, but we are willing to consider other options that are equally or more rugged and capable as a fiber optic probe. A fiber is desirable because it allows us to remotely measure a surface without risk of disturbing any sensitive optic. In any case, the spectral acquisition should be performed across all spectral frequencies using the same probe and the field of view, whether spot (e.g., using a fiber) or some other means, should be well-defined.
Question: Please provide clarification around your spectral acquisition needs – do they need simultaneous (photodiode array), or millisecond (fast-monochrometer) acquisition? Is microsecond acquisition sufficient?
Answer: Microsecond and millisecond data acquisition times is sufficient. Total sampling time to acquire data across the entire spectrum should be less than 1 sec.
