TOTAL ESTIMATED COST OF

REENGINNERING EFFORT

Reengineering Cost is a parametric estimating tool based on multiple factors related to substituting an alternate COTS software product for an existing software product. The reengineering factors include but are not limited to how the software is used; how the software is distributed throughout the program, where the software is in the configuration of the integrated systems program; how many times the replacement upgrade needs to uploaded; where the upgrades need to be installed; how many units of the software are already fielded and finally how much effort needs to be spent to validate the software is a true substitution that meets to confirmation management requirements and the security features required to maintain the Authority-to-Operate (ATO) by Army standards. The Reengineering cost is determined by the engineer's knowledge of the program confirmation management, the relationship of the software to the core of the operating system and the ATO certification requirements.

(b.) Alternate products are not compatible with the Puppet scripting language, which the

GRCS program utilized to distribute software and automate the installation of the software. For more information, reference Section 3, Description of Supplies/Services.
