DESCRIPTION FOR PURCHASE (DFP)

METAL BRIQUETTER SYSTEM

July 18, 2018

SCOPE: Provide all equipment, supplies, materials, for purchase, shipping and installation of fully operational metal briquetting system, including on site startup and calibration at Crane Army Ammunition Activity, Crane IN production building.

1. Equipment Required:

a. Briquetter with fluid collection system

b. Vertical Pulverizer/Crusher

c. Vibrational Screen

d. Pulverizer/Crusher Conveyer

2. Equipment Specifications Required:

a. Capable of crushing/shredding and briquetting aluminum cuttings and turnings of various lengths and thicknesses (~6 cubic yards/day; 1000-2000 lbs/day)

b. Capable of crushing/shredding and briquetting mild steel cuttings and turnings of various lengths and thicknesses (~6 cubic yards/day; 1000-2000 lbs/day)

c. Ability to process 1.5-2 cubic yards/hour or 200 lbs/hour of low density turnings (less than 20 lbs/cu. ft.)

d. Cutting fluid recovery system with automated pump to external tank (provided by purchaser) with overfill sensor; Coolant type: water soluble

e. Hopper capacity ≥ 1.5 cubic yards with opening ≥ 4.5 ft

f. Engineered to operate outside with moderate shielding from heavy rain. Must be able to operate in light rain/snow at temperatures ranging from 100 °F to -10 °F without incurring damage or significant rusting.

g. Easy to operate (weatherproof) control panel with ability to quickly change from steel/aluminum

h. Display screen/keypad to access instrument settings and calibrations.

i. Ability to monitor remotely via Ethernet connection.

j. Ability to run without operator present with built-in shut off when hopper is empty

k. Lights to indicate briquetting operation

l. Heating system for cutting fluid tank and other system components (e.g. hydraulics) to operate in below freezing temperatures without damage

m. Crusher/shredder will have the ability to easily remove jamming (i.e., oversized) steel/aluminum clasts that are incorporated within turnings without significant time/effort unloading the hopper. Vertical oriented crusher is preferred.

n. Crusher/shredder will be durable enough to handle occasional oversized steel/aluminum clasts without inflicting significant damage when jamming occurs.

o. Conveyor system is required to transport briquettes to a holding dumpster (provided by purchaser). Conveyor must be capable of filling a dumpster ≥ 5 ft in height.

p. Highly reliable system is required with little annual preventative maintenance

q. No combustion engines will be incorporated within the briquetting system

3. Briquetting System Size Limitations

a. Briquetting system, including all components, must sit on an existing concrete pad on the lower level of a loading dock and fit entirely within an area measuring 27 f. x 8 ft. The loading hopper will be loaded from the upper level of the loading dock via a forklift. The loading hopper will preferably be centered on the long axis of the target location to accommodate easier forklift access through a bay door which is centered on loading dock.

b. Loading hopper must be loadable from the upper dock. Loading height must be ≤ 7.5 ft from the base of the lower dock surface and ≤ 4.5 ft from the base of the upper loading dock surface. The roof height is ~14 ft from the base of the lower dock surface.

4. Briquetting System Documentation User manual and engineered, customer specific, installation drawings in hard copy format

5. Briquetting System Startup

a. Onsite installation service by qualified service technician at designated instruction building

b. Training of operators on instrument operation and maintenance

c. Calibration using samples provided by customer

d. Demonstration of performance using samples provided by customer

6. General

a. Contractor shall comply with all applicable federal, state, and local environmental laws, statutes, and regulations.

b. Contractor shall take the necessary actions to identify, monitor, and control those contract operations and activities that pose risk of contamination, or can negatively impact the natural and/or human environment.

c. Contractor shall contact COR regarding disposition instructions of any solid or hazardous waste that may be generation.

d. Prior to installation, Contractor shall receive safety briefing by CAAA representative and shall comply with all safety requirements.

7. Installation

a. System will be installed on existing concrete pad.
