About this file
This document contains a request for information (RFI) from the 136th Mission Support Contracting office regarding an x-ray cabinet. The RFI provides details on the required x-ray cabinet, including confirmation that it will need to provide complete shielding for operation of a Lorad LPX-160 x-ray unit, which has a straight power cable connection to the tube head. The RFI specifies that the item is for a non-walk-in cabinet, installation is not required but can be quoted, and the cabinet does not need CFR certification but must shield for the Lorad unit operating at 160kV and 5mA. Responses to additional questions clarify the government currently uses the specified Lorad unit, the cabinet is for computed radiography use, and hardwiring details should be indicated. The related federal contract opportunity is solicitation number W50S7623Q0016 for an x-ray cabinet operating at 160kV from the Department of the Army National Guard.

Questions and Answers
Number Question
1 What is the exact make and model of the tube head? Are the High Voltage cables straight or angled coming out of the tube head?
Answer Lorad LPX-160 x-ray unit. The power cable has a straight connection to the tube head.
2 Is the tube pointing straight down during use?
Answer The tube head will be pointed in a generally downward direction, but it may not necessarily always be pointed straight down (depending on possible future requirements).
3 Is this a vault (walk-in) or a cabinet (non-walk in)?
Answer The requested item is a cabinet (not walk-in)
4 Does the Government require installation and integration of the x-ray Set?
Answer Installation is not required; however, this may be quoted as a separate element, an element combined with delivery of the item, or not quoted at all. We request the submission indicate whether hardwiring is necessary.
5 Does the Government want the cabinet certified to 21CFR1020.4 for x-ray safety
Answer The cabinet will not have to be certified to the CFR, but it will need to provide complete shielding for the operation of a LORAD LPX-160, which operates at a peak of 160KV and 5ma.
6 Is the Government buying an x-ray source, and if so, what model?
Answer The Government is not buying an x-ray source. The Government currently uses a Lorad LPX-160 x-ray unit, and the power cable has a straight connection to the tube head
Is this to be used for CR and Film x-ray?
Answer This will be used for CR (computed radiography).
