SUMMARY OF CHANGES

SECTION SF 1449 - CONTINUATION SHEET

The following have been modified:

PURCHASE DESCRIPTION

Qualifying Statement for a Vertical Reciprocating Conveyor (VRC) Scope Design, fabricate, and install one hydraulic cantilever style vertical reciprocating conveyor (VRC) including power unit, manual controls, gates and enclosures as specified in the drawing and meeting the design characteristics herein. All components shall be built and rated for use in NFPA 70 (NEC) Class 1, Division 1, Group D, and Class 2, Division 1, Groups E, F, and G hazardous environment. In the event that this document conflicts with the accompanying drawing (D4327A), this document takes precedence.

General Requirements Conceptual drawings showing envelope dimensions shall be provided in electronic format in either “.pdf” or “.dwg” within 2 weeks of award of contract for review and approval by MCAAP Engineering. Finalized drawings in either “.pdf” or “.dwg” format shall be provided at time of delivery or before. If 3D CAD models are available then they should be provided with the final drawings in a format capable of being read by Solidworks software.

VRC Design Characteristics

1. VRC shall meet all applicable ASME B20.1, OSHA, DA PAM 385-64, DA PAM 385-100, AMCR 385-100, and federal regulations and standards.

2. VRC will have a minimum lifting capacity of 1,500 pounds.

3. VRC will have a minimum travel height of 14 feet (168 inches) with a total of two

(2) operating levels.

4. The maximum overall height of the VRC shall not exceed 24 feet (288 inches).

5. Lift platform will be a minimum 56 inches wide by 54 inches long (deep) with a 84 inch load height so that it can easily accommodate the loading of a 51 inch wide by 48 inch long by 33 inch tall pallet.

6. Overall width of lift shall not exceed 80 inches. Overall length (depth) of lift shall not exceed 77 inches. If the safety enclosure/guarding does not extend up through the floor then it can be excluded from the overall width and length requirements.

7. Lift shall be loaded and unloaded from the front by means of a forklift on the first floor. Lift shall be unloaded from the side on the second floor by means of an overhead jib crane that shall unload the individual items on the pallet before returning the pallet to the first floor. As such the area directly above and to the unloading side of the lift platform shall be clear of any obstructions above a height of 48 inches from the floor of the second story to prevent interference with the unloading of the pallet.

8. Enclosures and Gates:

a. Lift shall have guarding and/or safety enclosures on all non-operating sides of lift that are not otherwise guarded by existing building walls. The guarding/safety enclosures on the first floor shall have a minimum height of 8 feet and shall be of an open type construction material that will reject a ball 2 inches in diameter. Guarding/safety enclosure on the second floor shall prevent inadvertent access to the mast area and be of an open type construction material that will reject a ball 2 inches in diameter. The second floor guarding/safety enclosure shall be a minimum of 42 inches, but shall not exceed a height of 48 inches in the unloading area to the side of the lifting platform to prevent obstruction with unloading of the platform.

b. Gates shall be installed on the first and second floor loading sides. The gate on the first floor shall be of the vertical acting slide type and provide an opening significantly large to facilitate loading of the platform with a forklift. The gate on the second story can be either a single swing gate that swings or a double horizontal sliding gate. The second floor gate height shall be a minimum of 42 inches tall but shall not exceed 48 inches tall.

c. Each gate must be equipped with a combination gate status switch and electro-mechanical interlock to prevent opening of the gate unless the carriage is present, and to prevent operation of the VRC unless all gates are closed.

d. All gates must meet all applicable ASME B20.1, OSHA, DA PAM 385-64, DA PAM 385-100, AMCR 385-100, and federal regulations and standards for guarding.

9. Electrical

a. All components shall be built and rated for use in NFPA 70 (NEC) Class 1, Division 1, Group D, and Class 2, Division 1, Groups E, F, and G hazardous environment.

b. All electrical motors shall be dual rated for 208 or 220 VAC, 3 phase, 60 Hertz and designed for continuous duty at ambient temperatures from 32°F to 102°F.

c. Control stations with momentary push buttons for call and send, and a maintained mushroom style emergency stop button shall be provided at each operating level.

10. When loaded to capacity no portion of the VRC shall exhibit permanent deformation.

11. Raising and lowering of the carriage shall be done by means of a hydraulic operation and mechanism.

12. Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU) shall have measures (i.e. pressure compensated flow control valves) to provide safe and controlled lowering of load.

13. HPU shall have measures (i.e. velocity sensing check valve) to prevent uncontrolled carriage descent in the event of hydraulic pressure line failure.

14. HPU shall have protections in place protect the system from excessive pressure due to overloading or jamming.

15. Adjustable mechanical stop and pressure switch shall be provided to limit the upward travel of the lift platform to a height flush and level with the second floor.

16. Lift platform shall be stable and no bouncing shall occur during loading and unloading.

17. Lift shall be equipped with secondary safeties to prevent platform from fall more than 6 inches in the event of a mechanical failure of the lifting apparatus.

18. Construction

a. Structural frame members shall be open style (C-Channel, I-Beam, etc.)

and tubular members shall not be used.

b. To the greatest extent possible construction shall not inadvertently create cavities where dust and contaminates could collect.

c. All exposed carbon steel surfaces shall be coated to prevent corrosion

(painted or powder coated).

19. Installation

a. VRC shall be installed in the location designated by MCAAP Drawing Number D4327A.

b. Overall design shall be suitable for installation outdoors.

20. Acceptance

a. All tests shall be done in accordance with AMSE B20.1 standards and guidelines.

b. Load Test: A test load at the rated capacity will loaded on the VRC at the ground level. The VRC shall convey the load to the upper floor and then return to the ground floor with the load. If the VRC cannot lift or lower the load then it will fail the test.

c. Performance Test: During the load test the time to lift the load to upper level and the time to lower the load shall be measured. The times shall be averaged and the lifting and lowering speeds shall be calculated. If the lifting speed is not within 10% of the specified speed or the lowering speed exceeds the lifting speed by more than 10% then the VRC shall fail the test.

d. Stationary Load Test: The loaded VRC platform shall remain stationary at the upper level for a minimum of one (1) hour. After one hour the VRC shall be inspected for drift of the platform and for deflection of components. If drift or deformation is exhibited, then the VRC shall fail the test.
