About this file
The document is a Material Ordering Data sheet for ASTM A494/A494M Standard Specification for Nickel and Nickel Alloy Castings, dated March 1, 2022. The specification details a single piece (1ea) casting with grade designation M-25S and class CL-3, to be delivered in an "as cast" heat-treat condition. Key ordering parameters include no repair welding allowed, no source inspection requirements, and no physical marking due to the small size of the casting, with packaging to be marked with the ASTM specification, grade symbol CY40, and heat or lot number. All unit, intermediate, and shipping containers must be marked in accordance with MIL-STD-129, and further instructions are referenced in DLA Procurement Note C20.
The document includes detailed compositional requirements in Table 1, specifying precise percentages of elements such as carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, copper, molybdenum, nickel, chromium, and other trace elements for various nickel alloy grades. The final page provides a comprehensive heat treatment table outlining specific thermal processing parameters for different material grades, including temperature ranges, holding times, and cooling specifications for various nickel and nickel alloy castings.
