About this file

This technical ordering data document outlines requirements for the production of motor stator assemblies. Key details include machining back-up sleeves to specified clearances and chamfers, performing hydrostatic and leak testing, insulating components with layers of mica tape, glass tape, and varnish, installing thermocouples with silicone tubing, and recording serial numbers. The related solicitation requests quotes for motor stators and includes attachments providing the technical ordering data and solicitation. Quotes are due by 10:00 AM Pacific Time on June 30, 2023 and must be submitted via email, include the solicitation signed in boxes 30a, b, and c, provide the vendor's CAGE code or DUNS number and whether the company is small or large, and quote an FOB Destination price for Bremerton, Washington. The agency is the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime.

Technical Ordering Data ASPU Motor Stator

DWG 4D99664 REV 5

· General Requirements

· Clean, prepare, grit blast, and paint surfaces per 3A82169.

· Machine front and rear back-up sleeves to obtain clearances and chamfers as follows:

· Establish length of back-up sleeves to eliminate axial gaps at both ends. A 0.001 inch shim shall not go for a minimum of 50% of the circumference. A 0.002 inch shim is the maximum that shall go.

· The rear back-up sleeve does not require machining at the O.D. to establish radial clearances.

· The front back-up sleeve requires machining of the O.D. at the finger plate end only to establish radial clearances.

· The depth of circumferential scribe line to be 0.003 inches or less.

· Hydrostatic and leak test per 348A10

· The 1000 PSIG hydrostatic pressure identified in 348A10 can be applied three times per stator can. Subsequent hydrostatic testing is to be done at 900 PSIG. Upon replacing a stator can, a 1000 PSIG hydrostatic test shall be applied to that can.

· All three power terminal leads are to meet the maximum length of 7.51 inches over insulation.

· Bend power terminal lead assemblies at assembly to fit insulation disks.

· The glass-mica (G-M) insulation cone and ring are to be assembled to yield 2 layers over the back-up sleeve surface. The G-M insulation shall be installed with the mica surfaces face to face.

· Air dry varnish shall be applied to the back-up sleeves and between each layer of the G-M insulation. Eight pieces of the specific item are required to make each insulation cone and each insulation ring. Each individual piece is to overlap the other by 2 inches. Stagger overlap joints between layers 1 and 2.

· Assemble the required quantity of gasket to maintain the 0.005 to 0.025 gap prior to welding. A minimum of one of the gaskets must be installed with both shunt separators (top and bottom).

· Install mica insulation cones and rings per insulation specification 349A32.

· Test per test specification 349A31.

· Insulate as follows:

· Two layers of ½ lapped mica tape

· One layer of ½ lapped glass tape

· Varnish

· A boot made from two layers of GND insulation and tape with Teflon tape as needed. This boot may be used in addition to the mica tape, glass tape, and varnish.

· Place approximately 1.5 inches of silicone tubing over each individual thermocouple (T/C) lead before soldering the lead to the receptacle with high temperature solder.

· Inspect can prior to assembly and after hydrostatic test per 151QS001.

· Record heat and P.O. of terminal end cover, vent plug, alignment pin, and hex bolt (0.3125-18 x 1.0 LG) prior to assembly.

· Record serial number of wound stator (QTY 2), stator housing mach (QTy 2), end closure, stator can, stator cap mach (QTY 2), and terminal connector prior to assembly.

· Heat stator housing to 500±50 °F to install wound stator.

· After shrink fitting of wound stator, measure the 45.238 diameter of stator housing and machine end closure to obtain 0.000 to 0.005 radial clearance based on average diameters.

· Apply air dry varnish on the stator core O.D. and on the mating surface of the copper support block before installing the support block.

· After the welding of the copper support block to the housing apply air dry varnish to the top surface and the gap between the support block and housing. Next place the insulation disk onto the support block mica side down. Apply air dry varnish to the mica side of the insulation cap and place over the power lead onto the insulation disk.

· Serial number of each wound stator shall be the serial number of each completed assembly.

· Shim power terminal leads and power lead supports with micarta filler to ensure a snug fit. Butt lap all items in Teflon tape before installing.
