About this file
This statement of work outlines repair and calibration services required for a Rhode and Schwarz WR-10 extender head. The National Institute of Standards and Technology's Communications Technology Laboratory requires repair of two issues on the instrument, including non-detection of power above 106 GHz by the b-wave receiver and a step in the boss of the waveguide flange. In addition to repairs, the selected contractor must calibrate the instrument to original product specifications. The period of performance is 12 weeks from receipt of order and equipment. The equipment will be shipped to the contractor's service facility for repair and calibration, then returned to NIST. The related federal contract opportunity on the NIST solicitation website is seeking proposals for these repair and calibration services.

Statement of Work (Service)
TITLE: Repair WR-10 extender head
Requesting Laboratory / Division / Group:
Communications Technology Laboratory Radio Frequency Technology Division Guided Wave Electromagnetics Group, Mail Stop 672.01
Scope of Work:
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)/Communications Technology Laboratory (CTL) enables science and industry by providing essential measurement methods, instrumentation, and standards to support all phases of communications technology development. As part of this effort, the RF Technology Division of the Communications Technology Laboratory develops and maintains traceability paths for scattering parameter and power calibrations. To pursue these activities, the RF technology division requires repair and calibration of a Rhode and Schwarz WR-10 extender head.
Objective(s):
Repair and calibrate instrument.
General Requirements:
Repair and calibrate instrument.
Special Requirements:
Repair and calibrate instrument.
Tasks:
Task
Number Description
1 The instrument below (see Government-Furnished Property) requires repair and calibration. The first problem to be repaired is that the b-wave receiver does not detect any power above approximately 106 GHz. The second problem to be repaired is that the test port has a step in the boss of the waveguide flange where the two pieces of the split-block waveguide meet. The presence of a step where the surface should be flat prevents repeatable S-parameter calibrations.
In addition to repairs, the instrument should be calibrated to meet original product specifications.
Place of Performance:
The equipment will be shipped to a service facility for repair and calibration, then shipped back after service is complete.
Period of Performance/Delivery Date:
Work to be completed within 12 weeks after receipt of order and equipment
