About this file

This Statement of Work (SOW) details a unit compressor replacement project for the USDA Cereal Disease Laboratory (CDL) located at 1551 Lindig St. in St. Paul, Minnesota, dated July 22, 2025. The project scope involves removing and replacing a failed compressor unit, with specific technical requirements including reclaiming existing MO99 refrigerant, properly disposing of the old compressor, performing acid testing of system oil, adding an acid neutralizer, installing a new ZR250KCE-TEC-965 compressor, replacing various system components like contactors and filter drier cores, and conducting comprehensive system leak checks and evacuation procedures. The contractor will need to use crane service for removing the old compressor from the roof and installing the new one, with manual rigging required to move compressors within the rooftop mechanical unit.

The SOW includes detailed technical specifications for system preparation, replacement, and verification, with the government providing 50 lbs of MO99 refrigerant. The contractor must coordinate all work activities with the owner to ensure ongoing research is not disrupted, confirm existing conditions and dimensions prior to work, and complete the installation in accordance with project specifications and drawings. Accompanying documentation includes mechanical system record drawings, site photos, and detailed mechanical equipment schedules covering components like variable air volume boxes, unit heaters, pumps, and air-cooled chillers. The project requires careful integration with the existing mechanical systems of the research laboratory.
