About this file
This is a Statement of Work for a one-year service contract supporting an Illumina NextSeq 1000 Sequencing System at the U.S. Geological Survey's Alaska Science Center, Molecular Ecology Lab in Anchorage, Alaska. The contract period runs from April 7, 2026, through April 6, 2027. The vendor must provide a Complete Support Plan encompassing full coverage for parts, labor, and travel expenses; reagent replacement upon hardware failures; remote technical support 18 hours per day, five days per week; a two business day on-site response target for service calls; control software and hardware updates; on-site applications support; discounts on advanced training; and remote monitoring capabilities.
The technical requirements mandate that the vendor perform all repairs requiring a qualified technician, provide support to ensure proper equipment use and real-time troubleshooting, and replace reagents when hardware failures occur. The NextSeq 1000 system (Serial Number VL00515, Catalog Number 20038898) is critical to the laboratory's genetic research operations, generating DNA sequences that serve as the baseline for most research initiatives. The vendor's previous performance during the first-year warranty period established a superior level of service, which this continuation contract seeks to maintain.

Statement of Work
I. Introduction and Background
A. Introduction
The Alaska Science Center (ASC), Molecular Ecology Lab (MEL) owns and operates an Illumina NextSeq
1000 Sequencing System (S/N VL00515, cat. no. 20038898) for automated generation of DNA clonal clusters by bridge amplification, sequencing, primary analysis, and secondary analysis. The NextSeq is vital to the genetic work done in the MEL, as it generates the DNA sequences that are the baseline for most of our research. The instrument requires periodic repairs and expensive reagent replacement when repairs are required. Personnel require remote technical support in real-time and in-person support when required, to ensure good quality data and appropriate use of the equipment. The vendor will conduct all necessary technical support, repairs, and reagent replacement when hardware fails.
B. Background
Technical support, reagent replacement, and repairs conducted by the vendor during the first-year warranty has maintained a superior level of performance.
