Statement of Work (SOW) Project: Illumina MiSeq DNA Sequencer

GENERAL INFORMATION

1.0 Scope of Work:

Procurement of Illumina MiSeq DNA Sequencer instrument Service Contract.

2.0 Background:

Much research in the Poultry Microbiological Safety and Processing Research Unit is based on sequencing of DNA from microbiological samples. The Research Unit has one sequencer at this time that is about 10 years old. This is past expected lifetime for electronic equipment. Also, the demands on the instrument have exceeded it’s capacity, thus having a second instrument on site will be advantageous.

CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS

3.0 Technical Requirements/Tasks:

This SOW is for maintenance of an Illumina MiSeq DNA Sequencer. This instrument is for determining whole genomic sequences, amplicon sequences, and transcriptome sequences. The MiSeq System is an integrated system for automated generation of DNA clonal clusters by bridge amplification, sequencing, primary and secondary analysis. Yearly, the equipment is required to be serviced by the illumina vendor to ensure high performance and functionality of the machine. Failure to do so will result in poor performance of the machine thus resulting in jeopardizing the integrity of results and research program. Maintenance includes software updates, camera alignment and calibration, and fluidics inspection and maintenance as necessary. The contract will be for 1 year of service with 4 option years.

4.0 Government Furnished:

Instrument is to be located in the USNPRC Russell Research Center room 815. Contractor may need occasional access to provide maintenance.

5.0 Deliverables / Schedule:

Service contract are scheduled for year-to-year by Illumina vendor and is required to be serviced by vendor yearly to ensure high performance and functionality of the equipment.

6.0 Travel:

Contractor is responsible for bringing technicians on site as necessary without further reimbursement from the Government.

7.0 Contractor’s Key Personnel:

Contractor has qualified personnel to service the equipment should it malfunction or break.

8.0 Security Requirements:

No special security requirements are identified. When contractor comes on site, they are responsible for maintaining proper laboratory safety.

9.0 Data Rights:

Does not apply.

10.0 Section 508 – Electronic and Information Technology Standards: {When information technology is to be acquired, include language describing Section 508 requirements.} Sequencing of DNA is a sophisticated technology with a limited number of available instruments for performing the job. The Illumina MiSeq is operable by anybody that is capable of working in a microbiology laboratory. A similar expectation holds for any other modern instrument used for sequencing DNA.

Attachment: {If applicable, include an Attachment stating Evaluation Factors and significant Subfactors representing the key areas of importance and emphasis to be considered in the source selection decision}
