Statement of Work (SOW) Project: Various types of nucleic acid sequencing for a number of samples
GENERAL INFORMATION
1.0 Scope of Work: We work on multiple projects which depending on the circumstances require DNA or RNA sequencing from a variety of fungi and peanut cultivars, with a variable number of samples, typically from 1-30, and variable read length (from 15 to 100,000 bp). Depending on the experiment, this may require from 1 to 30 Gbp (giga base pairs), to be performed on different sequencing platforms: Illumina MiSeq, NovaSeq 6000, Illumina HiSeq 3000/4000, Pacific BioSciences Sequel II, etc. Also, the library preparation before sequencing varies depending on the project, in some cases requiring subtraction library preparation. Given some fixed costs associated with sequencing, the price for 1-2 samples could be higher than the price for 10-20 samples.
2.0 Background: {Over the years we have had DNA and RNA samples sequenced by various services, including University of California Davis, University of Washington, LC Sciences, and ARS-GBRU in Stoneville, MS. In each case, the choice of service depended on sequencing platform they have available, and time to obtain the results. Not every service has all the sequencing platforms we need for each particular project.}
CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS
3.0 Technical Requirements/Tasks:
· We work on multiple projects which depending on the experiment require DNA or RNA sequencing from a variety of organisms including bacteria, fungi and peanut plants or seeds, with a variable number of samples, typically from 1-30, and variable read length (from 15 to 100,000 bp). Given some fixed costs associated with sequencing, we are aware the price for 1-2 samples could be higher than the price for 10-20 samples.
· The library preparation, sequencing platform and number of reads expected per sample will be agreed with the service provider before sending the samples
· Each “Sequencing Service Provider” is autonomous, many have proprietary protocols and software for operations. The government does not exert any type of supervision during the process of sequencing.
· Each Sequencing Service Provider is independent
· We expect the service provider will send us the “clean reads” after sequencing 4.0 Government Furnished: {NONE}
5.0 Deliverables / Schedule:
· There are no milestones. The time to complete each sequencing project will be agreed with the service provider before sending the samples.
