About this file
This statement of work outlines requirements for the procurement of two mini Micro Pulse Lidar instruments and three MPL laser diodes. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration requires engineering duplicates of existing miniMPL lidars and MPL laser diodes used in its MPLNET atmospheric lidar project. Delivery of the two miniMPL instruments and corresponding documentation and calibration data, as well as three MPL laser diodes, is due by May 1, 2024. The related federal contract solicitation is for the same products and services, with an opportunity type listed as pre-solicitation and the contracting agency as the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Shared Services Center.

STATEMENT OF WORK FORMAT
Mini Micro Pulse Lidar Procurement
PR: _____________________
Background The NASA MPLNET project has been in operation since 2000. The project utilizes specific, commercially available atmospheric lidar instruments now manufactured by Droplet Measurement Technologies. The lidar instruments are the Micro Pulse Lidar (MPL), initially developed and patented at NASA GSFC and now commercially available, and the miniMPL (a smaller version of the MPL developed by the company).
Droplet Measurement Technologies is the unique supplier of the MPL and miniMPL.
Atmospheric lidar instruments sold by other companies are not supported by MPLNET due to technical requirements and/or programmatic considerations that limit our ability to support non-standard instrumentation with constrained budget and staff. The MPL models supported by the NASA MPLNET project include the MPL-4B and miniMPL product lines.
This procurement includes the purchase of engineering duplicates of existing equipment.
Here we seek to procure 2 miniMPL instruments from Droplet Measurement Technologies.
We are purchasing 3 engineering duplicate laser diodes to replace older diodes used in existing MPL-4B instruments. The diodes have limited lifetimes and need replacement periodically.
This equipment produces non-ionizing radiation. The new mini MPLs will be used and controlled under our existing MPLNET Laser Safety Plan (docket number LR18-060-01) on file with the Radiation Protection Office, Safety Division, Code 360.
Requirements:
Engineering duplicates of existing miniMPL instruments and MPL laser diodes used in the NASA MPLNET project are required.
Scope
1. purchase of 2 miniMPL lidar instruments
2. purchase of 3 MPL laser diodes
