STATEMENT OF WORK AND SPECIFICATION

TO

INSTALL AIR CONDITIONER

IN BUILDING 010A, RM 137

BELTSVILLE, MARYLAND

August 14, 2023

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

A. Contractor shall completely prepare the site for building operations, including preparing the site for air conditioner installation, and furnish labor and materials and perform work as required by the contract documents.

B. All employees of general contractor and subcontractors shall comply with ARS security management program. They shall be identified by project and employer by wearing contractor government issued identification badges at all times on ARS property.

C. Prior to commencing work, the general contractor shall provide proof that an OSHA certified “competent person” (CP) (29 CFR 1926.20(b)(2) will maintain a presence at the work site whenever the general or subcontractors are present.

STATEMENT OF WORK

PROJECT LOCATION: Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC) Building 010A, Beltsville, Maryland

The contractor shall furnish and install one three-ton ductless split system to cool lab space.

The indoor unit (evaporative coil) shall be mounted above the door of room 137 (See Attach 2).

The outdoor condenser shall be mounted to the concrete portion of the exterior wall (See Attach 2).

New refrigeration piping shall run above the drop ceiling (thru room 137, the hallway and lab 130), then penetrate the exterior wall and extend down to the new condenser. There is limited duct work the piping will need to maneuver. The new line set will be installed in white casing outside of building (See Attach 4).

Provide a new 20-amp electrical circuit from the units to the panel in the hallway. The contractor shall run 14-gauge wiring from the inside air conditioner up the wall and in the ceiling across the hall and back down the west side of the hallway to the panel box. Likewise, wiring will also run from the exterior condenser up the wall and into the building above the ceiling east to the hallway and likewise down to the panel box (See Attach 3).

The condensate shall be piped in PVC from the indoor unit and tie into the sink drain located directly below the unit.

The contractor shall perform a check, test, and startup of the new system to verify operation.

NOTE: THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE GOVERNMENT TECHNICAL

REPRESENTATIVE ON 301-440-9930 AT LEAST 24 HOURS BEFORE ANY WORK IS STARTED.

General:

A. Staging: All supplies and materials for this contract shall be delivered in the work area specified by the COR.

B. Scheduling: The total contract period shall be 120 calendar days from receipt of Notice to Proceed

(NTP).

C. Submittals: The contractor shall submit the manufacturer’s technical data sheets for the list of items within 10 calendar days of receipt of NTP.

D. O&M Manuals: The contractor shall provide electronic copies of bound operation and maintenance manuals to include manufacturer’s technical data sheets.

E. Coordination: The contractor shall coordinate with the COR, with adequate advance notice, all deliveries.

F. Complete Work: The contractor shall provide two demonstrations to USDA personnel of the functioning of the system at the conclusion of the project.

G. Warranty: All contracted work shall be guaranteed by the contractor for a period of one (1) year all parts and labor from the date of final acceptance against defective materials. Upon receipt of notice from the Government of failure of part or parts of the guaranteed materials during the warranty period, the affected materials shall be replaced within 48 hours with new materials by and at the expense of the contractor. ALL WARRANTIES SHALL BE TURNED OVER TO THE COR

PRIOR TO FINAL INVOICING.
