June 2023
1.0 Introduction
Mission The 727 AMS is a subordinate unit of the 721 Air Mobility Operations Group (AMOG) and is the sole Air Mobility Command (AMC) en route location in the United Kingdom. 727 AMS is a component of AMC under the combatant command (COCOM) of US Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) and operates the Arial Port for the movement of cargo and passengers.
1.1 Background
The 727 AMS is the single AMC presence in the United Kingdom. It is key to the rapid movement of cargo for all USAFE UK agencies. To automate our cargo movement operation, we have installed a caster deck in the freight warehouse, bldg. 599. Like all Mechanized Material Handling Systems (MMHS) this has significantly improved our operation; moving forward in an effort to continue our innovation and increase our capability we have identified the need for an external caster deck to allow the ease of loading the pallets onto the K-loaders.
1.2 Scope
The contractor shall provide all the necessary, transportation, equipment, power tools, materials, labor, loading/unloading and supervision required to provide an external caster deck adjacent to the internal caster deck located in the Air Freight Terminal, Bldg. 599, RAF Mildenhall. The external caster deck shall be made up of nine caster sections. Each of the caster deck sections should measure 2,600 mm by 3,315mm (8.619 square meters) and have a depth of 208mm for a total area of 77.571 square meters. Caster decks should have an edge protective edge and protective barrier to secure pallets from rolling off caster deck.
Each caster deck sections should include 8 pallet stops fitted to the perimeter of the deck positions. There shall be a steel walkway attached either side of the caster deck and include a handrail.
Specifications for caster deck are as follows:

Specifications for walkways are as follows:
• Fabricated steel walkway with handrail
• 1,200 mm high from floor level
• 800 mm wide
• Handrailing to one side
Specification of Airside Barrier:
• The airside barrier will be a rising beam design. It will run along the entire front edge of the caster deck platform to protect the caster deck from the Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
• The barrier should feature powered rollers required to aid the transfer of cargo from the caster deck onto the MHE and visa-versa. Roller should be compatible with single phase 240 voltage.
