Background: The Cellular and Neurocomputational Systems Branch is seeking a set of

16 rat training chambers that will be used will be used to determine the neural mechanisms in the brain that mediate learning and decision making and how they are affected by drugs of abuse.

The Cellular and Neurocomputational Systems Branch wants to determine the neural mechanisms in the brain that mediate learning and decision making. These chambers are integral to this effort. We currently use chambers made by Coulbourn Systems, however they informed us last year they are ending production and repairs, thus the current boxes are necessary to begin to replace these before they break down and stop functioning.

Purpose and Objectives: The purpose of this acquisition is to procure 16 rat chambers with all associated parts, control interface, and computer.

Project requirements: Capable vendors must demonstrate the ability to provide the following brand name or equal Rat Training Chambers.

1. Critical characteristic: The requested rat chambers are identical to Med Associates chambers used by other labs at NIDA-IRP. Having the same chambers used by other labs will facilitate these collaborations and interactions, as our personnel can use their chambers and vice versa if necessary.

Additionally it will allow for the borrowing parts, repairs, etc.

2. Critical characteristic: All the current software, parts and accessories currently used with our Coulbourn chambers will be compatible with the new Med Associates hardware, which will allow us to use existing equipment and also not alter our tasks and analysis pipelines.

Warranty: The vendor shall provide a 2 year warranty on all parts electrical and mechanical. The contractor shall provide any required replacement components due to malfunctions.

Delivery Date: 60 days after award date.

Delivery Location: 251 Bayview Blvd., BRC, Suite 200, Rm 06A705, Baltimore, MD
