| Proposed Vendor: Hitachi High-Technologies America, Inc. 1375 N. 28th Avenue, P.O. Box 612208, |
Dallas TX 75261-2208 Tel:800-253-3053 Fax:972-615-9315 www.hitachi-hitec.com/us
| Why is this the only vendor?: Hitachi manufactured the Hitachi Scanning Electron Microscopes (SU-7000) and Hitachi Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM HT-7700) and thus supply all replacement parts for this instrument as well as any updates to the instrumentation and software. They are the only company who can provide Unlimited on site emergency service calls; Response period of Monday-Friday excluding holidays; Response hours of 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; Response time 48 hours; Preventive Maintenance service calls within manufactures specifications; technical assistance and replacement parts for Hitachi microscopes. We have had a service contract with Hitachi High Technologies America, Inc. for several years and thus they know the equipment, helped us design the new building where the microscope is housed and therefore they are familiar with the building where the service is required. These microscopes are a vital part of the Electron & Confocal Microscopy Unit's core facility which is used for research programs by the 200 research scientists at the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center and their world wide collaborators. Extended down time for this microscope would be detrimental to on-going research projects and future research projects. | |
