SSA-RFP-13-1010
Amendment 0002 Attachment 1
Questions and Responses #2 dated March 7, 2013 Question #1
Sections C.3.4 and C.3.6
Question: Do these requirements include the need to compress single or multiple files, folders, etc. into a container (ZIP format) reducing the footprint (size) it would normally occupy on a storage device? (This would provide the ability to optimize storage by reducing the size of files that are seldom used but must remain accessible as well as reducing transmission times of large files)
Government Response:
No, compressing file(s) into a container (ZIP Format) is not part of the requirement. The Government is not limiting how de-duplication occurs.
Question #2 Sections C.3.4 and C.3.6
Question: Do these requirements include the need to encrypt single or multiple files, folders, etc. using a passphrase and/or x.509 certificate? If so, do the encryption algorithms used need to be FIPS 140-2 compliant? (This would provide an additional layer of security for files containing sensitive data that are either stored or transmitted) Government Response:
No, the Government does not require encryption for the De-duplication Appliances.
