Statement of Work
REPROCESSING SINKS, SPD
Date: June 14, 2020
A. GENERAL INFORMATION
1. Title of Project: Reprocessing Sinks, 3 bays for SPD area.
2. Type of Contract Contemplated: Contracting, Open Market sole source, Pure Processing
B. SCOPE
The current Endoscopy sink is a single bay sink. NPOSP Site Review on April 2019 had cited us for a single bay sink. Stating, “At a minimum, two sinks or one sink with two separate basins (two-bay) should be used. One sink or sink basin should be designated for leak testing and manual cleaning, and the other only for rinsing. Optimally, three sinks or one sink with three separate basins (three-bay) should be used, with each function in a separate sink or basin. Refer to AAMI ST91:2015; Section 3.3.2 Sinks and accessories.”
Benefits:
These are ergonomic sinks for employees. Many of the SPS areas are going towards these to accommodate short and tall staff members. This is a safety issue so that short staff members do not have to stand on something to reach over a sink and so that tall staff members do not strain their back for 8-hour day/5 days a week.
These sinks are utilized for Endoscopy (Gastrointestinal (GI) Procedures) and Pulmonary (Bronchoscopy procedures) specialties to follow through for the Decontamination prior to High Level Disinfection of these specialty scopes. This will increase turn over time of Decon cleaning of scopes.
They are utilized to meet AAMI ST91:2015:
“When processing flexible and semi-rigid endoscopes, it is essential to have restricted areas for authorized personnel. It is necessary for employees and visitors to comply with facility policy prior to entering restricted areas such as the decontamination room and clean room. Section3.2.3 Traffic control states, “Personnel and visitors can carry microorganisms into the processing areas, increasing the potential for environmental contamination in these areas.”
When processing flexible endoscopes, at least two sinks should be used. One for leak testing and the other for manual cleaning with each having a faucet for attachments to flush the lumens. The sinks should be deep enough for the endoscope to be fully submerged for wet leak testing and manual cleaning and wide enough as to not over coil the endoscope.”
If AAMI is our governing body or guidelines, The three bay sink allows the staff as a recommendation by NPSOP to leak test two scopes at once and begin to clean and still provide a separate rinse basin to decrease any possible cross contamination from left over bioburden or microorganisms. Increases the capacity of quality decontamination.

E. DELIVERY
· Delivery dates for custom-built products are based upon the prompt return (within 10 days) of approved submittals and/or shop drawings. 60 days advance notice is required in any case where shipment is being delayed over 30 days due to reasons outside of Getinge’s control. Any storage charges incurred shall be paid by the customer.
· VA Medical center Warehouse. POC Michelle Benedict/Gregory Spears. Logistical POC is Christopher Jones.
· What documentation (if any) the Contractor must obtain from the Government to verify Government receipt of the delivery.
· Where inspection and acceptance will occur. Warehouse
· Other items to consider: Include any associated review periods or incorporation of Government comments as applicable. Deliverables are different than task completion milestones. Milestones may not require a specific submittal. Include here the schedule for when final products such as data, reports or other items are required to be furnished to the primary requestor.
F. Government-Furnished Property, Material, Equipment, or Information (GFP, GFM, GFE, or GFI) This section should identify any Government-furnished property provided to the Contractor. This includes all Government-furnished property, such as Government-furnished material, equipment, or information. If the list of property is extensive, this section should identify where that list can be found. Before offering to provide any property, make sure that it will be available when required, where required, and in the condition required by the contract. Failure to meet Government-furnished property requirements often lead to a Contractor claim for an equitable adjustment to contract price, delivery, or other requirements. See FAR 45 and NOAA APG for specific requirements about providing Government-furnished property.
G. SECURITY
This section should identify any unique security requirements associated with contract performance (when applicable). These requirements may include, but are not limited to, such items as:
· Special pass or identification requirements;
· Special security clearance requirements; or
· Special escort requirements.
H. SPECIAL MATERIAL REQUIREMENT
Describe requirements for any special materials that are to be encountered in the performance of the service(s).
I. PLACE OF PERFORMANCE
This section should identify where the contract will be performed. If performance will occur at multiple Government locations, this section should indicate which tasks must be completed where. If performance will be at the Contractor’s facility, the SOW need only state that requirement. Performance will be conducted at VA Syracuse (800 Irving Avenue).
J. PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE
The period of performance may be stated using actual dates, days after contract award, or using some other method. If different periods of performance will apply to different tasks, the tasks and related periods of performance should be clearly identified.
