3.4.2 Accuracy: ±(2.5% of reading + 2 digits)
3.5 Resistance
3.5.1 Range: 0.1 Ohm to 50 MOhm
3.5.2 Accuracy: ±(0.5% of reading + 2 digits) up to 600 Ohm, ±(0.5% of reading + 1digit) up to 3.2 MOhm, ±(2% of reading + 1 digit) 3.2 MOhm to 50 MOhm
3.6 Continuity and Diode Tests The meter shall be provided with the capabilities for continuity and diode tests. An audible signal shall be activated to indicate continuity.
An audible or visual signal shall be provided to indicate a good/bad diode.
3.7 Overload Protection
3.7.1 Voltage protection: The meter shall be rated as 600V CAT IV and 1000V CAT III device per IEC-1010-1 2nd ed. Agency approvals shall include either UL 61010 or CSA C22.2 No 1010-1-92.
3.7.2 Current protection: Both the mA and Amp current input jacks should be protected by fuses which are rated to withstand the maximum current input for the appropriate input jack.
3.7.3 Resistance protection: 1000 Vdc or AC
3.8 Display A 3-1/2 digit LCD display according to MIL-PRF-28800F shall be provided. A bar graph or analog indicator shall be provided for peak or null interpretation.
3.8.1 Backlight: A backlight shall be provided.
3.9 Damage Protection The meter shall have an elastomeric case to absorb mechanical impacts in field operation.
4.0 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
4.1 Temperature
4.1.1 Operating temperature: -10°C to +50°C
4.1.2 Non-operating temperature: -40°C to +60°C
4.2 Power Source
4.2.1 Internal DC battery: Internal power source requirements according to MIL-PRF-
28800F are invoked. The batteries shall be a commercially available type and have a life span of at least 400 hours.
4.3 Weight 0.55kg maximum
4.4 Size 20cm H, 10cm W, 6cm D, nominal
4.5 Accessories The equipment shall be provided with safety-designed test leads in accordance with MIL-PRF-28800F.
4.6 Wireless Connectivity Any capability of the equipment to communicate wirelessly, including but not limited to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, shall be disabled.
4.7 Battery Restrictions Per MIL-PRF-28800F, Lithium and Mercury batteries are prohibited without prior authorization. A request for approval for the use of Lithium and Mercury batteries shall be submitted with production lot delivery, after contract award. Approval shall apply only to the specific model proposed.
Exceptions: Per Naval Ordnance Safety and Security Activity (NOSSA), the use of Lithium primary (non-rechargeable) coin cell batteries meeting the following criteria is authorized for Naval personnel and on Naval activities, surface ships, submarines, and aircrafts:
- Commercially available coin cell batteries, unmodified, and used in the device recommended by the application manufacturer.
- Coin cell batteries shall only be used in single cell configurations.
- Coin cell batteries shall not be rated for more than 3 volts (maximum nominal output voltage).
- Coin cell batteries shall not be rated for more than 1 Ampere-Hour nameplate capacity.
The coin cell manufacturer and model identification/part number shall be provided at the time of submission of proposals.
