F. MINIMUM FOAM THICKNESS OR THE MINIMUM CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE CONTAINER WALLS AND THE

OUTERMOST PROJECTIONS OF THE WRAPPED AND BAGGED ITEM SHALL BE TWO INCHES.

G. 2.0 POUNDS OF FOAM IN ESTIMATED. THIS AMOUNT OF FOAM SHOULD ONLY BE USED AS A GUIDE.

THE AMOUNT OF FOAM ACTUALLY USED PER PACK WILL BE INFLUENCED BY EQUIPMENT TYPE, FOAM

FORMULATION, ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS, FACILITIES, ETC.

H. INSPECT THE PRESERVATION, THE UNIT PACK AND THE PACKING IN ACCORDANCE WITH MIL-STD- 2073-1 AND THE APPLICABLE CONTAINER SPECIFICATION. INSPECTION FOR THE FOAM-IN-PLACE

PACKAGING SHALL BE AS SPECIFIED IN MIL-STD-1191. SAMPLE SIZE FOR GROUP B AND C

INSPECTIONS OF MIL-STD-1191 SHALL CONSIST OF TWO PACKS SELECTED AT RANDOM FROM LOTS SUBMITTED FOR EXAMINATION. LOTS SUBJECT TO EXAMINATION SHALL BE LOT NO 1, 4, 7, 10 AND

RANDOMLY THEREAFTER FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE CONTRACT SUCH THAT THE TOTAL

FREQUENCEY OF SAMPLING OVER THE TOTAL CONTRACT QUANTITY DOES NOT EXCEED ONE

SAMPLING OUT OEVERY THREE LOTGS SUBMITTTED. PARAGRAPH 30.4.1.5 OF MIL-STD-1191 APPLIES

TO LOT INSPECTIONS. BOTH PACKS SELECTED WILL BE SUBJECTED TO GROUP B INSPECTION.

GROUP C ROUGH HANDLING AND SHOCK MITIGATION TEST ARE NOT REQURIED. THE INSPECTION

LEVEL SHALL BE S-1 AND AN AQL OF 4.0%.

I. LEVEL A PACKING SHALL BE ACCOMPLISHED USING WOOD-CLEATED PANELBOARD SHIPPING

BOXES, CONFORMING TO ASTM-D 6251, TYPE III, CLASS 2 OR NAILED WOOD BOXES CONFORMING TO

ASTM-D 6880, CLASS 2.

LEVEL B PACKING SHALL BE ACCOMPLISHED USING FIBERBOARD BOXES, WEATHER RESISTANT,

CONFORMING TO ASTM-D 5118 OR TRIPLEWALL, CORRUGATED FIBERBOARD BOXES, CLASS CGWR, CONFORMING TO ASTM-D 5168. CLOSURE, SEALING, AND REINFORCEMENT SHALL BE IAW SPECIFIC, APPLICABLE METHODS OF ASTM-D 1974, OR AS REFERENCED IN THE CONTAINER SPECIFICATION.

WHEN THE TOTAL QUANTITY TO BE SHIPPED TO THE SAME DESTINATION EXCEEDS 125 POUNDS, EXTERIOR PACKS WITHOUT SKIDS SHALL BE PALLETIZED IN ACCORDANCE WITH MIL-STD-147.
