A. PRESERVATION AND PACKING SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH MIL-STD-2073-1D.

B. SLUSH OR FLUSH INTERNALLY AND THOROUGHLY DRAIN EXCESS.

C. SEAL ALL PORTS WITH PLUGS OR CAPS OF THE APPROPRIATE SIZE.

D. APPLY PRESERVATIVE TO ALL EXTERIOR BARE METALLIC SURFACES.

E. FOR FABRICATION AND PLACEMENT OF CUSHIONING SEE ILLUSTRATIONS ON SHEETS 2 AND 3.

F. CLOSURE SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM- D 1974, METHOD 2B3.

G. PACKING:

LEVEL A PACKING SHALL BE ACCOMPLISHED USING WOOD-CLEATED PANELBOARD SHIPPING BOXES, CONFORMING TO ASTM-D 6251, TYPE III, CLASS 2 OR NAILED WOOD BOXES CONFORMING TO ASTM-D 6880, CLASS 2.

LEVEL B PACKING SHALL BE ACCOMPLISHED USING FIBERBOARD BOXES, WEATHER RESISTANT, CONFORMING TO ASTM-D 5118 OR TRIPLEWALL, CORRUGATED FIBERBOARD BOXES, CLASS 2, CONFORMING TO ASTM-D 5168.

CLOSURE, SEALING, AND REINFORCEMENT SHALL BE IAW SPECIFIC, APPLICABLE METHODS OF ASTM-D 1974, OR AS

REFERENCED IN THE CONTAINER SPECIFICATION.
