General Description of System – The equipment shall be used to store, mix and dispense Versalink P-1000 and Isonate 143L in a 4.5 to 1 ratio by volume. The equipment will be used in a stationary location inside of the shop. The mix ratio will be fixed with the ability to modify the ratio in 1% increments (if required for future use). The material output ratio will be verified periodically via measurement of each of the separate materials at a location prior to the mixing head/component in order to comply with local procedures. The system must be designed for ease of assembly, disassembly and cleaning. The machine must maintain materials within the desired temperature range throughout the storage and dispensing process (see par 3.3.3.3). The mixed materials must comply with local inspection requirements (see par 3.1.2) once cured.
Conditions of Service and Performance – The following service and operational conditions shall apply to the equipment delivered under this specification.
Cured Material Inspection Requirements— A material output ratio of 4.5 to 1 by volume (Versalink P-1000 to Isonate 143L) must be verified prior to performing sample batches. Once mixed and cured, observe the material to ensure the mixture is free of defects, uniform in color, streak free, crack free, and with no unmixed, soft or gummy material. Over the entirety of the surface, the cured material must pass hardness test in accordance with ASTM D-2240 Shore D durometer of 41-50. Material must be cured at 77 degrees F (+/- 5 degrees F) for a minimum of 24 hours. Inspection must be performed by PNSY Rubber Shop or C250 employee. Cured samples may vary in size and shape, but a thickness of 2” +/- ¼” must be maintained for inspection.
Operating Environment – The proposed system will be operated in a heavy industrial shipyard environment and shall be capable of continuous operation over an extended period of time with minimal maintenance and upkeep. The equipment shall be suitable for operation in an indoor industrial environment, at variable ambient temperatures of 50oF to 90oF, with high humidity.
