About this file

This specification sheet outlines testing and sampling requirements for steel grit procurements. It specifies that steel grit orders must be poly-lined and sealed, with pallets poly covered and mercury free. Testing will include hardness testing of ten particles from each sample per SAE J1993 paragraph 10.4 and ASTM E 384, with three hardness readings taken on each particle and ninety percent of readings for each sample within specified ranges. Samples will also be tested for conformance to chemical and physical properties defined in SAE J1993. If one sample fails, the entire order shall fail and all batches delivered as part of that order shall be rejected, with sampling and testing of individual batches not required.

The related federal contract opportunity is a solicitation from the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime for steel grit. Testing and sampling requirements are defined in the attached specification sheet.
