SUMMARY OF CHANGES

SECTION SF 30 - BLOCK 14 CONTINUATION PAGE

The following have been added by full text:

TECHNICAL QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

1. In item 1 for a pair of cameras, does this include also a pair of 50mm f/1.8 lens, and a pair of 25mm f/2 lens, as well?

ANSWER: YES

2. In item 2 for a camera, does this include a 50mm f/1.8 lens as well?

ANSWER: YES

3. On item 4, what is the targetwavelength and bandwidth for the notch filter?

ANSWER: USING IT FOR FLUORESCENCE OF KETONES (ACETONE AND TOLUENE) SO 250 TO 265 NM

4. For all the lenses stated in items 1 (50mm f/1.8,25mm f/2), 2 (50mm f/1.8) and 3 (135mm f/2), is there a requirement or preference on the lensbrand and mount type?

ANSWER: NIKON

Follow-up question: There is no suitable 25mm f/2 Nikon lens available. Will Zeiss lens with Nikon F mount be ok?

ANSWER: YES, ZEIS WITH NIKON F MOUNT WILL WORK

5. For line item 2, the identified camera (Andor Zyla 4.2) has rolling shutter (instead of global shutter).

This will not be compatible with a short laser light pulse illumination from the laser (~5ns with Quantel Q-smart twins per specification). In this mode, it will be tricky to synchronize the short pulse with camera exposure to ensure no distortion in the images due to the transient read out design of rolling shutter. This results in inaccurate LIF signals spatially and temporally, is the end user aware of this? I should note Andor has a ‘simulated global shutter’ mode that alleviate this problem, but the system needs to be triggered in a very limited way.

RESPONSE TO ANSWER: The only suitable camera with 82% QE per the published specifications is the Andor Zyla 4.2, while there are other alternatives, they mostly operate in rolling shutter mode, with options for ‘simulated global shutter’. While these simulated mode could work, the entire system will need to be triggered such that the camera is the main trigger for the rest of the components. This can lead to trigger complications, and from our experience, such ‘simulated mode’

SPMYM219Q1842

does not always work reliably (you may have more noise or crosstalk in images). I understand the concerns for intensifier. The Andor Zyla 5.5 will be included as the PIV cameras (item 1), but the sensitivity will not be at 82% QE per published for LIF measurement. Will the user be willing to compromise using the Zyla 5.5 for LIF?

ANSWER: The Zyla 5.5 will NOT work. We need the 82% quantum efficiency that the Zyla 4.2 provides.

6. Will a traverse be required in the quote, since in the system description it mentions about ‘scanning’ PIV measurement? If so, do the end user need a 1D, 2D or 3D traverse?

ANSWER: 2D TRAVERSE
