Salient Characteristics

Portable Radio’s must:

Use the Enterprise Land Mobile Radio (ELMR) network for radio communications

Have an output power of at least 6 Watts

Temporarily lower transmitter power output when in close proximity to a RF site

Have an over the air re keying system to distribute AES encryption keys to remote users wirelessly to unlimited reprogramming of encryption keys to be sent over-the-air to the targeted radios with no interruption to existing radio communication

Radio batteries and charger must have smart technology and reconditioning ability to allow reconditioning only when need to extend battery life (no memory power loss)

Radio batteries must work with existing charging units

Allow over the air encryption key changes when outside the normal range of over the air re keying

Switch between FDMA and TDMA without the user having to change channels

Push to talk button must be ambidextrous for right of left hand use

Have a .5 Watt Speaker

Have user adjust audio level, lighting, and tones

Allow the user to navigate through channels/talk-groups and zones while audible recorded voice file announces the name of each selected channel or zone

Be automatic Emergency Capable

Have top and side Mounted Display

Have FIPS 140-2 level 3 certified encryption hardware

MILSPEC Delta-T submersion test for submersion. This subjects the radio to 2 meters of water for 2 hours.

Be configurable to different levels of noise suppression settings for different operating environments

Have a dual sided (front and back) 2 microphone design with noise cancelling technology to remove the background noise in loud environments

Class 1 Division 1 Explosive Environments approved/safe

Radio purchase has to be pre-approved by ELMR manager substitutions are NOT authorized

All 5 items from each CLIN must work together as a set no mixing and matching not allowed
