About this file
This document is a justification for other than full and open competition over $250,000 submitted by the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime. The justification is for the acquisition of 24 mist eliminators from MECS, Inc. as a sole source procurement. MECS, Inc. is identified as the original equipment manufacturer and only supplier that manufactures mist eliminator technology for CVN-68 Class carriers. The mist eliminators have a total estimated value of over $250,000 and are required by May 23, 2021 to prevent work stoppage and mission failure. Market research found MECS, Inc. to be the only manufacturer that can provide mist eliminators meeting the proprietary drawings for CVN-68 Class carriers. A related federal contract opportunity was awarded sole source on April 5, 2021 to an unknown vendor for an unknown amount to acquire these mist eliminators.
