About this file
This document outlines the specifications for a hydraulic power unit to be manufactured for solicitation number SPMYM124Q0010 from the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime. The hydraulic unit must achieve 45 gallons per minute of flow with a maximum output pressure of 2,250 PSI. It will utilize a pressure compensated hydraulic piston pump to provide full flow below the maximum pressure and shift to low flow and high pressure operation at the maximum. Key functions and components of the system include a purge function, pressure adjustment at the pump, a flush function, leak detection during flushing, reservoir emptying, high and low pressure filtration with manual filter changes, hydraulic oil cooling and circulation, a reservoir heater capable of reaching 150 degrees Fahrenheit, gauges and meters to monitor flow, pressure, temperatures, and filter status, as well as oil sample ports and containment in a 10 foot conex container.

Text version
Hydraulic Unit (outline/Not Final) The scope of the project is to manufacture a hydraulic power unit that can achieve 45 gallons per minute with a max output pressure up to 2,250 PSI.
To achieve the forementioned results it is proposed that a pressure compensated hydraulic piston pump be implemented. By utilizing this style pump, the system will provide full flow if the system’s max set pressure parameters are not achieved. If the system’s max set pressure is achieved the pump will automatically shift into a low flow/high pressure state.
Functions of the system will include the following:
· System purge function
· Mechanical Pressure adjustment at pump
· Flush function
· Leak detection during flushing operations
· Reservoir empty circuit
· Filtration
· High pressure filtration (Discharge)
· (Manual pressure bleed off valves)
· Low pressure filtration (Return)
· (Both filtration circuits will be duplicated. Filter media change will be achievable while system is operating via hand operated 3-way ball valves)
· Hydraulic oil cooling circuit (doubles as circulation circuit) (Cooling via water or air*)
· Hydraulic oil reservoir heater (Achievable oil temperature of 150°F) (Not recommended- ideal temperature should be 140°F or below)
· Gauges & Meters
· Flow Discharge/Return oil (Digital/ analog)
· Pressure discharge oil (Digital/ analog)
· Temperature Discharge and Return oil (Digital/ analog)
· Temperature of reservoir fluid (Digital/ analog)
· Temperature safety shutoff
· Filter gauges (Visual/Differential Pressure style)
· Tank High/Low sensors with auto shut-off
· Indication lights at operator station for filter status and alarms
· Oil sample ports
· 500 Gallon L-Shape Reservoir
· All components will be contained in a 10’ conex container with access doors on either end.
*Additional auxiliary cooling may be required
