STATEMENT OF WORK

BAND SAW FOR Code 920

1. SCOPE: This Statement of Work defines the specification for a Metal cutting VERTICAL Band Saw.

It includes the associated training and service support.

1.1. Background: This procurement significantly improve the cycle time for cutting raw material. It shall consist of Two (2) each Vertical BandSaw and all components necessary for operation.

2. DOCUMENTS:

2.1. DESIGN: The machine shall be new and unused, capable of performing its intended function. The machine shall be complete, so that when connected to the utilities identified herein, it can be used for any function for which it is designed and constructed.

2.2. ELECTRICAL DESIGN: The entire electrical system shall conform to the requirements below and NFPA '79. All machine components shall use a single electrical source.

2.3. WORK LIGHT: The equipment shall include a work light to illuminate the work envelope. The lighting shall comply with NFPA 79 requirements, and have a protective shield. Fluorescent or other lighting with a strobe effect is not acceptable.

2.4. CONTROLS: Operator controls, instrumentation and indicators shall be mounted convenient to operating personnel. Such devices shall be clearly and legibly marked for function and identification. Controls shall be fitted with suitable handles, pushbuttons, or control knobs, as applicable.

2.5. SAFETY SIGNS AND LABELS: Safety signs and labels shall be in accordance with NEMA Z535.4.

Safety signs and labels shall be securely attached to the equipment in visible locations, at the point of hazard(s), with any safety precautions to be observed by the operator or maintenance personnel permanently marked on the signs.

2.6. SAFETY GUARDING: Covers, guards, or other safety devices shall be provided per ANSI B11.22 and 29 CFR 1910. The safety devices shall not interfere with the operation of the machine. The safety devices shall prevent unintentional contact with the guarded part, and shall be removable to facilitate inspection, maintenance, and repair of the parts.

2.7. INTERCHANGEABILITY: All parts subject to replacement shall be manufactured to definite dimensions and tolerances. Replacement parts shall be interchangeable without requiring modification.

2.8. LUBRICATION: Bearings (except sealed-for-life and self-lubricating type), mating gears and sliding parts shall be provided with means for lubrication. Reservoirs of splash-type systems shall be fitted with oil level sight gauges. Automatic force-feed and manually operated force feed systems shall be supplied with a filter.

Manually operated systems shall have control handles mounted in an accessible location convenient to the operator.

Oil holes, grease fittings and filler caps shall be easily accessible.

3. REQUIREMENTS:

3.1. The machine shall have the following salient characteristics

3.1.1. Electrical requirements: 460 Volts / 60 HZ / 3 Phase

3.1.2. Manual Tilt W/ SURE-LOCK.

3.1.3. Digital Tilt Readout.

3.1.4. Laser Line Generator

3.1.5. Dead roller conveyor 5’ L x 18” W, 2-1/2” Dia. With 12” Spacing loading side

3.1.6. Dead roller conveyor 5’ L x 18” W, 2-1/2” Dia. With 12” Spacing discharge side

3.1.7. Infinitely variable speed drive system

3.1.8. Coolant flushed, blade cleaning wire brush.

3.1.9. Flushing hose and auxiliary coolant nozzles

3.1.10. Build in Flood System with Coolant pan.

3.1.11. Automatic Band Mist lubricator.

3.1.12. Hydraulic blade tension.

3.1.13. 3° forward cant.

3.1.14. Blade breakage/stall motion detector-shut off switch

3.1.15. Band door interlocks.

3.1.16. Automatic Column Return.

3.1.17. Clutch power Feed

3.2. Machine Size and Capacity: The size and capacity of the Horizontal band saw shall be not less than specified in Table I.

3.3. Standard Equipment: All standard equipment required for proper operation of the Vertical Band Saw (such as special tools) shall be furnished.

3.4. SAW BLADE:

4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS:

4.1. Inspection and acceptance of the machine shall be performed at destination by Code 98 Industrial Engineering Branch and shall consist of type and kind; condition; operability, if readily determinable; preservation;

packaging.

5. TRAINING:

5.1. ON-SITE TRAINING: Within seven days after receipt of a written request by the receiving activity, the services of a qualified training representative(s) shall be provided. The representative(s) shall train personnel on site at the receiving activity. Training service shall be for a period of time sufficient to instruct personnel of the journeyman mechanic's level in the proper operation and maintenance of the equipment.

6. TECHNICAL MANUALS:

6.1. Three (3)/ one PDF- complete sets of technical manuals covering, installation, operation, service and maintenance, and part-listing shall be provided.

7. PRESERVATION, PACKAGING AND PACKING:

7.1. The equipment shall be packaged, packed and preserved for shipment to reach ultimate destination undamaged. Package shall be prominently marked "NOT FOR OUTSIDE STORAGE". Yellow packaging, packing, preservation and marking are prohibited.

7.2. The equipment shall be shipped palletized for ease of off-loading by fork lift truck. The Government shall be made aware in advance of any special lifting instructions.

7.3. The weight of the equipment shall be prominently and conspicuously displayed in pounds on each pallet.

7.4. The contractor shall notify NNSY TPOC at least two (2) working days in advance to schedule a delivery date for the equipment.
