About this file

This document is a Special Packaging Instruction (SPI) for a Container, Engine with NSN 8145-01-676-6125 and Part Number 12587603. The SPI provides detailed requirements for the military preservation, cleaning, drying, packing, and marking of this engine container. It specifies the use of MIL-STD-2073-1E for preservation and packing, and the placement of 120 units of desiccant in the container. Special markings are required, including the container specification, contract number, and NSN, as well as "CARC" and "Reusable Container: Do Not Destroy" markings. Quality assurance provisions include inspection of the preservation and container. This SPI is referenced in the related federal contract opportunity for the procurement of 78 engine containers, with an option for an additional 78 containers. The opportunity is a competitive acquisition set-aside for small businesses, and first article testing is required.
