A. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS: INSPECT PRESERVATION AND UNIT PACK IN ACCORDANCE WITH MIL-STD-2073-1. INSPECT THE PACKING IN ACCORDANCE WITH MIL-STD-1186 AND THE APPLICABLE
CONTAINER SPECIFICATION.
B. CLEAN AND DRY ITEM BY ANY SUITABLE PROCESS BEFORE APPLICATION OF PACKAGING MATERIALS.
C. THE UNIT CONTAINER IS THE SHIPPING CONTAINER.
D. CAGE THE BRAKES OF BOTH WHEELS BY TURNING THE CAGING BOLT COUNTERCLOCKWISE UNTIL THE BOLT REACHES A STOP AND LOCKS IN PLACE. THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE TO THE FRONT AND REAR
BRAKE CHAMBERS OF EACH WHEEL. REFERENCE TM 9-2355-320-23.
E. APPLY PRIMER TO UNPAINTED, METALLIC SURFACES OF BRAKE DRUM AND RELATED PARTS.
F. APPLY PRESERVATIVE THROUGH ALL GREASE FITTINGS.
G. FILL INTERIOR OF AXLE TO OPERATIONAL LEVEL. ROTATE AXLE HOUSING TO ENSURE COMPLETE COVERAGE OF ALL INTERNAL SURFACES. LUBRICANT MUST REMAIN AT OPERATIONAL LEVEL BEFORE
PACKAGING.
H. SEAL ALL OPENINGS TO THE INTERIOR OF THE AXLE WITH CAPS/PLUGS OF THE APPROPRIATE SIZE.
J. APPLY PRESERVATIVE TO ALL UNPAINTED/UNPLATED FERROUS SURFACES.
K. APPLY BARRIER MATERIAL BETWEEN ALL SECTIONS OF THE AXLE THAT COME IN DIRECT CONTACT
WITH THE INTERIOR OF THE CONTAINER AND/OR BLOCKING/BRACING.
L. SEE PAGES 3 TO 6. SECURE BLOCKING INTO CONTAINER AS SHOWN ON PAGES 3 TO 6 USING ASTM
