B. CLEAN AND DRY ITEM BY ANY SUITABLE PROCESS BEFORE APPLICATION OF PRESERVATIVE AND PACKAGING

MATERIALS.

C. THIS PROCEDURE DESCRIBES THE PROPER METHOD FOR PRESERVATION OF THE ENGINE:

-- PRIOR TO PROCESSING, ENGINE CRANKCASE SHALL BE FILLED TO OPERATING LEVEL WITH OIL CONFORMING TO GRADE 10 OR 30, AS APPLICABLE, OF MIL-PRF-21260. FUEL SYSTEM SHALL BE PURGED OF FUEL. FUEL SYSTEM/COMBUSTION CHAMBERS SHALL BE PROTECTED BY PRESERVATIVE

OIL CONFORMING TO GRADE 10 OF MIL-PRF-21260. ALTERNATIVELY THE FUEL SYSTEM AND

COMBUSTION CHAMBERS SHALL BE PROCESSED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MANUFACTURER’S

RECOMMENDATION FOR MINIMUM ONE-YEAR STORAGE. AFTER PROCESSING, ENGINE CRANKCASE

SHALL BE DRAINED AND THE DRAINPLUG RE-INSTALLED. THOROUGHLY DRAIN FUEL SYSTEM

INCLUDING FUEL LINES, FILTERS, PUMPS, AND FUEL-WATER SEPARATOR.

-- 1 OUNCE OF PRESERVATIVE OIL CONFORMING TO MIL-PRF-21260 SHALL BE ATOMIZE SPRAYED INTO CRANKCASE THROUGH THE MOST ACCESSIBLE OPENING. ADDITIONALLY, PRESERVATIVE OIL SHALL BE ATOMIZE SPRAYED INTO THE INTAKE AND EXHAUST OPENINGS. MAXIMUM SPRAY IN PRESSURE SHALL NOT EXCEED 25 PSI.

-- APPLY PRESERVATIVE CONFROMING TO MIL-PRF-16173 GRADE 4, TO ONLY EXTERIOR UUNNPPAAIINNTTEEDD,, UUNNPPLLAATTEEDD MMEETTAALLLLIICC SSUURRFFAACCEESS.
