A. PRESERVATION AND PACKING SHALL BE INSPECTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH MIL-STD-2073-1.

B. INSPECT THE CONTAINER IN ACCORDANCE WITH CID A-A 52462, INCLUDING THE FIRST ARTICLE INSPECTION

REQUIREMENTS.

C. FILL TO OPERATING LEVEL AND ROTATE TO OBTAIN COMPLETE COVERAGE OF ALL INTERNAL SURFACES. REMOVE DRAINPLUG AND DRAIN ASSEMBLY. REINSTALL DRAINPLUG AND TORQUE TO 15-20 LB-FT (20-27 N•m).

(NOTE: IF TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN PREVIOUSLY RUN BY THE MANUFACTURER AND ALL INTERIOR SURFACES HAVE

BEEN COATED WITH THEIR APPROVED LUBRICANT, NO ADDITIONAL INTERNAL PRESERVATION IS

REQUIRED.)

D. COAT ALL UNPAINTED, UNPLATED EXTERIOR FERROUS METAL SURFACES.

E. PACK THE TRANSMISSION INTO THE CONTAINER IAW THE INSTALLATION DECAL LOCATED ON THE CONTAINER USING

THE SUPPLIED HARDWARE.

F. PLATE 56 UNITS OF DESICCANT INTO THE CONTAINER DESICCANT BASKET.

G. THE PACKED REUSABLE CONTAINER WITH ITEM, SHALL BE PLACED IN A SHADED AREA AND MONITORED UNTIL THE INTERNAL RELATIVE HUMIDITY LEVEL STABILIZES AT OR BELOW 30 PERCENT. DESICCANT SHALL BE REPLACED AS

NEEDED UNIT A STABILIZED RELATIVE HUMIDITY LEVEL IS ACHIEVED.

(NOTE: THE STABILIZATION OF RELATIVE HUMIDITY LEVEL TYPICALLY REQUIRES A MINIMUM OF 24 HOURS TO

ACHIEVE.)

H. THE UNIT CONTAINER IS THE SHIPPING CONTAINER.

I. TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY SERIAL NUMBER SHALL BE STENCILLED ON THE CONTAINER IN ACCORDANCE WITH

MIL-STD-129.
